This is an awesome learning toy that can last until their school-age years!!! My almost 3 year old daughter LOVES playing the games like guess the letter & is really good at it too!! She plays with it everyday. I leave it in my diaper bag so she plays with it in resteraunts, the shopping cart,& in the car:) She's not even three yet, & she knows almost all of her letters. She can write a couple of letters all by herself thanks to the scribble & write :)

My wife and I liked the idea of having an interactive teaching method for writing letters and shapes. Our daughter, at 3, knows her alphabet and her shapes, but we wanted a tool to help with writing and drawing. This was perfect...until we started teaching her how to use it. For a 3 year old who is trying understand the concept of following the lines, the letters do not stay up on the screen long enough for her to grasp. I would probably clock the picture on the screen in at about 30 to 45 seconds. This is a learning tool. The letters/pictures should consistently be on the screen until the device shuts off or the mode changes. Just when I am getting into showing he the idea of following the lines, the picture shuts off. I have to then press the the letter on the keypad again, which initializes the whole process over again. It throws off rhythm to my teaching. The programmers should have given an unlimited time to each letter/picture. The time that is allotted is more suitable for a grade school child who already has the concept of writing letters, not for a beginner.

      i bought this for both my kids at age 3 to help learn to start writting and recognizing letters. it's really very helpful. it gives great direction for the kids to follow, nice music and does shapes and numbers as well. works great for car rides. alot less waste compared to practice writing on paper too. i would highly recommend. also pretty durable, its been dropped plenty of times and still works perfect.

          My3 yr old son received this for Christmas. He loves it. It has helped him do much better in Pre-school. Some say it might be to advanced but it is really up to the child. It is very helpful for the child considering what they need to know for kindergarten. I would recomend it for anyone who wants their child to have a head start for school.

                There was constant problems with the quality of the screen.. i had to return two times and still had issues with the screen not working..
                Its a great concept and the kids love it when they can see the letter they are writing clearly on the screen...

                  In theory, this is a great learning tool for learning to hold writing utensil and to trace letters, etc. HOWEVER, the writing surface is shockingly inferior for a Leapfrog product. After one day of light to avg. use, it barely shows the writing lines made my grandson, and is horribly frustrating because of that. I have always sworn by Leapfrog toys..I would give this a 0 if I could. He received it as a gift without the receipt, so unfortunately we can't return it. I would never purchase this until they do something to fix the writing surface. It fails at the one task that it has been designed to teach because of the poor quality.

                    I got this present for my 3 year old since her older siblings were getting notepads for Christmas. I wasn't expecting much, but she really loves it! There are lots of interactive games, and she loves to get a chance to practice writing her letters on the big screen. It keeps her occupied for a while and she is not asking to play with her sister's Meep.
