I was wary of this seat because I didn't know if it was sturdy but I'm pregnant and picking up a two year old to put him on the toilet was getting old fast. This has been the ticket. Here's what you need to know though:
First of all, it won't fit on the toilet on top of the toilet seat. You have to raise the toilet lid AND the toilet seat and then the seat is at the right level.
Second, the seat itself is very soft which has helped my son as he learns to go.
Third, the legs and seat are meant to swivel easily. This makes it super easy to pick up the seat by the handles and set the seat against the wall when an adult needs the toilet. BUT, this also makes it so that, while sitting on the seat, the child can push down on the handles and the legs/step will come up off of the floor. This doesn't endanger the child at all because the seat is still firmly on the toilet but it can be a distraction for why you're on the potty in the first place. I usually have my feet in front of the legs and that's enough to hold them down so that he's not playing when he should be "busy".

I do love SO much that this answers my need for not picking my kiddo up all the time while also answering my son's desire to always "do it myself". That's the BEST part of this. I would never want him to use it without my supervision but that would be the case even with an on-the-floor potty. This way I can just be there and it uses up his energy and not mine (which is my daily goal anyway).

As far as it not being for boys... I'm not sure I understand that comment from people. Most grown-up boys I know still have to hold things down if they were to sit on the toilet instead of standing so, as far as I'm concerned, I'm just training my kiddo early. He fits fine on the seat so he's not having to balance precariously in order to keep things held down. From what I can tell, the only other option is to have a cup in front of him and that would only create one more thing that he'd have to get used to when transitioning to a big potty. Just my thoughts.

We really liked this seat while my son was going through the "sit on the potty but don't really do anything" stage. The handles are great and he is really able to get up on the toilet easier and feels more secure. I would probably give this seat 5 stars if we had a girl. However, my son turned a corner about a week ago and is going potty all the time. When he goes pee, this seat does not at all help keep it in the toilet. The bump that's supposed to be a deflector doesn't do anything. He's either shooting over the seat or under it - either way he makes a mess.

We've conquered the going in the potty part, though we're of course always there with him, we shouldn't also have to have him leaning all the way forward or pointing his parts a certain way so as to not make a mess. We're going out today to get a new seat. If you have a boy - keep looking.

Comments about Mommys Helper 1012115 Mommy's Helper Cushie Step Up Potty Seat:

Tried to use the potty seat on an elongated bowl, on an elevated toilet. After the seat dropped into the bowl a couple of times when little girls wiggled a bit, I had to modify it to keep it from dropping in. 20 month old and 4-year old both like to set it up and take it down themselves. I wish the product description had mentioned it wouldn't be recommended for elongated toilets, and I wish they had an option for longer rails so the step wouldn't sit at an angle on an elevated toilet.

My son is a short 26 months. The step gives him the leverage to go number 1 however the seat is still a bit large that he feels he's falling in. Perhaps as he gets a little older he will fill it out. Don't attach to the toilet so pretty unsteady as well.

We have this and a different one that sits on the floor. Our Grandson prefers this model. The seat is comfy therefore he will sit still so we are able read and play games while he is learning to use the big boy potty. It fits on our toilets, we have the higher ones. It stores nicely when not in use and very easy to wipe clean.

Comments about Mommys Helper 1012115 Mommy's Helper Cushie Step Up Potty Seat:

We leave this "ladder potty" in our guest/hall bath at all times. Due to this device, my little girl is totally independent in her going #1 now...she entered her "I'm a 'big girl' stage" and insisted on getting rid of her "baby potty." We formerly had to go to the bathroom with her, lift her onto the big potty, wait for hr to go, and then take her down. Now, she goes #1 ALL BY HERSELF -- goes in there, climbs up, does her business, climbs down, wipes, and flushes. The only time we even have to assist her is after she goes #2 (to wipe her afterward). The handles are an essential feature for climbing up&down and holding on. The product tends to slip or tilt a little while she is going up or down, but is steady and will not fall. My daughter took a couple of days to get used to it, but is not afraid at all now as she knows that it will NOT fall, even if it shifts a bit while she is in motion. Portability is a plus...she takes it when staying with grandparents, family, etc. It is easy to take on and off should an adult need to use that bathroom. It is just the right size for a toddler's fanny and there is no way to fall in! WE LOVE IT! Highly recommend!!!

This is wonderful! Fits perfectly on our toilet. Took her a day to get the hang of climbing up by herself. Second attempt to potty train within 6 months, and now she is good to go, took 3 days.

My parents, who watch her during the day, have a very high toilet (elongated), so the step is very slanted. We put a sturdy box under the legs to make it the right height. The seat part fits fine on the elongated bowl. My parents also bought a round Dora seat that just sits on top, but it absolutely does NOT fit, is NOT sturdy, and she can't get up there by herself.

It's been more work now that he's fairly trained! I'm hopeful it might work for my daughter. If you have a boy... forget it!!
