Comments about DaVinci Richmond 4-in-1 Crib with Toddler Rail - Espresso:

I wish that i did not have to write this review because I really wanted to like this crib, but it honestly isn't a good crib. It's flimsy and very thin, poor quality "wood". i feel like I could bend the slats and crack them...it's like ply wood. I ordered it on-line and I needed a convertible crib with a drawer that was reasonably priced. this one fit the bill, but it's SO not worth the money. It seems safe, but the bars are further apart than my other son's crib. My baby often (as in every night) tries to reach out to grab a bar, misses, and hits his head. I'm forced to use a bumper now. This never happened in my other crib because the bars are a lot closer together. The under drawer is hard to open/shut and comes off the rollers quite eaily. However...I wouldn't be even writing this review about all of those concerns if it weren't for it's one MAJOR flaw. This product scratches SO SO easily that if you even gently run your nail across it, it comes off under your nails. I'm not complaining because I'm upset about how it looks when it's scratched, I'm upset because my teething baby has quite literally been ingesting the finish, apparently. I just noticed today because it's all on the inside and I've never noticed. He is only 8 months old and only has 2 teeth, AND he has only been in this crib for 2 months since he breastfed for 6 months in our room. If you saw the crib now, you'd honestly think we found it on the side of the road and that it was mawled by a dog. it looks THAT bad. If you don't believe me, look at the pics that I took. 2 months...thats all. AND he just got those teeth, so really all this damage happened so fast and easily. It's a convertable crib so I was hoping to keep this thing for several years, but it already looks trashed. I'm mostly concerned about his health! Now I have to call the company AND his doctor. His brother is 27 months old and his crib has been used, jumped in, teethed on and scratched on A LOT. it has zero scratch marks and doesn't even budge if you try and shake it (we bought that one in store). This is what happens when you buy from a picture online...this is probably why it's not in stores to see. It would be TRASHED in a day, i promise! this crib is way way way sub-par compared to my other crib, which cost the same amount! I would strongly suggest that you do not purchase this crib, for your child's sake. All babies chew on their cribs, it's a fact of life. I'm astonished that the company would sell this. it seems to be common knowledge that this is an issue. Anyways, that my 2 cents (or 10) ;) it's not good and even if the drawer did work well, the bars were closer together, and it was more sturdy, it still wouldn't be worth your money simply for the scratch factor. You don't want your baby eating wood finish! Anyways, check the pictures and see for yourself. I'm so sad that my baby has been ingesting this...my tummy hurts :(

Comments about DaVinci Richmond 4-in-1 Crib with Toddler Rail - Espresso:

This was the very first crib I looked at online. I looked at more in stores and online for a couple of months, but came back to this one because I knew it was the one! [...]We put it together when I was 20 weeks pregnant because we were so excited to see it in the nursery. My husband put it together himself without any problems. We both really like it. Very beautiful dark wood. It is very solid and sturdy, but not too heavy. I just wish the bottom of the drawer was solid wood, not particle board, but it will be fine. I just can't wait to put my little girl in it! I also purchased the changing table that goes with it. It looks great with the crib and I'm really glad I got it.

For the price I paid, this crib was worth it. We just got it 3 weeks ago. Hopefully it will meet my expectations when it's time to convert it to a toddler bed. The drawer at the bottom is a great feature for extra storage.

Comments about DaVinci Richmond 4-in-1 Crib with Toddler Rail - Espresso:

Some errors in the instructions but not difficult to figure out how to assemble. Previously had the portable Emily crib by Davinci which we loved. The wood quality and construction of the Emily crib was far superior to the Richmond crib. We got this one because my son grew out of the Emily portable crib at 15 months. We selected the Richmond crib because we liked that it had a drawer (which ended up being disappointment because it won't stay on the tracks and falls to the floor all the time). We also liked the concept that he could grow from crib to toddler bed to regular bed (don't see how this could turn into a regular bed). Anyway because the wood is so soft (our son can put deep scratches in it with his short fingernails) I'm predicting it will look pretty bad by the time we are ready to convert it to a toddler bed.

Nice looking crib, but scratches easy

Comments about DaVinci Richmond 4-in-1 Crib with Toddler Rail - Espresso:

Overall we are pleased with this crib. It was not that hard to assemble, it looks very nice, the color is pretty and the crib itself is sturdy. However, I couldn't give it 5 stars because the finish is very easily scratched. We didn't have a teething guard on the rails the first night, and my son chewed on them quite a bit. They are ruined! I couldn't believe how soft the wood is and how easily it is scratched! Our last crib (which was recalled) was less expensive but the finish was much more durable. It seems for this price that the finish would hold up better against a teething baby.. . . after all, don't all babies chew their cribs?

Crib is great. Easy to put together. It feels strong and sturdy. Only problem was some parts of the directions are a little unclear but if you read ahead you see how it all fits together. Took me about an hour to put together and about 15 minutes of that was peeling off all the stickers they put on it.

Comments about DaVinci Richmond 4-in-1 Crib with Toddler Rail - Espresso:

The crib looks pretty, but not perfect. I like few things about it. (beneath)Putting it all together was an issue, since some missdirection in the instruction. (on the front part it says to insert wooden bolts, when actually must be long screws). And decription here is very poor. I had to search on the internet to find out what everybody needs to know. Oh, and I have diffrent mattress and it fits perfectly. There is no need to buy Da Vinci brand (it is way to soft for a baby).Dimensions (in Inches): 45.75" H x 55" W x 30.38" D Features:Made of Newzealand Pine Adjustable 4- level mattress support No drop side, static all around 4-in-1 Convertible crib (crib, toddler bed, daybed, full size) Toddler guard rail kit included. Headboard and footboard for full size bed included (full size rails sold separately). 2-compartment drawer beneath crib. NICE PHOTOS HERE[@]That's what i needed. Overall I'm happy with the crib, and I'm very picky.

There were a few problems with the assembly first off the directions for the drawer are wrong but its manageable if i could figure it out anyone can. Second Step 2 took forever because the hole was not deep enough so i had to make it deeper so the screw would catch. Took about 4 hours and i am 7 months... Overall pretty easy and very pleased.THe finished product is great i searched everywhere for the perfect crib so happy i found it and i am very picky so that says alot!!!! Does scratch easily be careful.
