It was PLASTIC!! The plastic is light and flimsy too,(easily broken, if played with to "handle every job, big and small"). For the amount of money it cost I was exspecting it to be metal, just as any other constuction truck is; dump truck, digger.... I would not recommend this product to anyone, unless your kids are not going to play with it. I purchased it online because it was the only thing my 3 year old wanted for christmas. After receiving it, I returned it and purchased a metal one of quality, for less at another store.

My son is a busy construction guy. He loves digging in anything that he can get a hold of and Bruder vehicles do the trick. Not only are they well constructed, you can by assecories like a auger that attaches just like a real skid loader. Nothing is glued on to them, its all movable parts. If anything would break, Bruder also sells spare parts, although we haven't had to buy any yet. The remote control construction vehiles most stores sell can't dig in the sand because the sand will get into the motors, but these can dig in anything. I know my 5 year old will have a blast playing in the snow with them this year. We have 6 different machines now and 5 more ordered for Christmas. I'm glad to see Toys R Us selling a good quality toy.
