I received this product to test & review, courtesy of Fisher Price & BzzAgent. My 10-week-old has slept through the night since the day he was born, and I'm absolutely convinced that the Rock 'n' Play is the reason behind his wonderful sleep habits! (The same was true for his older brother, so Fisher Price is 2 for 2 in our house!) We were using the original, plain-and-simple, no-bells-or-whistles Rock 'n' Play for the first month of his life, and it has been wonderful. But the new Auto Rock 'N' Play takes things up a notch, and I would definitely recommend this version to every new parent! Quite frankly, I'm not sure why I didn't buy this one as soon as it became available.

IMPROVEMENTS ON THE ORIGINAL:
- Well, first, the most obvious one: the auto-rock feature. I am no longer tethered to his sleeper to keep it rocking manually, because I can simply push a button and the internal rocking mechanism does the rest.
- Music & sounds are now included! And the best part: YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER THE VOLUME. If you're reading this as a first-time parent, you probably have no idea how much noise your kids' future toys are going to make. It's gonna reach a point one day where you would rather stab yourself in the ear than hear a singing puppy dog belt out one more round of "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" at a volume that the neighbors across the street can hear. So a product that gives me volume control is instantly a 5-star product in my book.
- The folding button doesn't stick anymore! On our original, we were constantly running into issues with the button sticking and refusing to fold, so we rarely took it with us anywhere (traveling, Grandma's house, etc.) because it was a pain to lug it around in it's fully assembled position. That's not the case here! I can fold this one with one hand - convenient, because the other hand is holding the little man!
- The included rattle stays attached to the seatbelt, unless a parent deliberately removes it. No more lost toys! My son isn't old enough to benefit from this upgrade yet, but the old rock 'n' play included a toy that didn't attach to the unit in any way, so I was constantly running back and forth to retrieve the rattle and give it back to the baby!
- This probably isn't a make-or-break kind of thing, but the new fabrics are SO much nicer. Our old version was this sickly-looking yellow color with little platypus-looking animals all over it. Not cute. (Of course, we kept it anyway, because - let's face it - I'd probably let the kid sleep with a live platypus if it meant he'd sleep more than 3 hours at a time.) But any aesthetically-pleasing upgrade is a welcome change in my book. The new fabric choices are subtle, attractive, and actually softer than the old one!

OTHER NICE FEATURES:
- It's powered by an adapter in an electrical socket, so we're not constantly running through batteries like we do with his battery-powered bouncy seat.
- The built-in storage solution for said power cord is genius - it wraps around a set of hooks, and then the plug is inserted into a plastic "outlet" to keep it from dangling or getting tangled. Another great bonus when traveling!

DISADVANTAGES:
Yep, there are a few, and even though I absolutely love this product (and would absolutely purchase it for myself again or an expecting friend!), they're worth mentioning:
- The auto-rock mechanism is LOUD. The baby actually loves it, because it's this continuous rhythmic pattern of white noise, and I think it helps him sleep even better, but unfortunately, it has the opposite effect on me & my husband. Because of the noise, it's not something we can keep in our bedroom at night - which means that we either turn it off when we're ready to go to sleep, or Baby sleeps in another room.
- It's not easy to rock this unit by hand. (You're probably thinking, "Um... It's called the 'AUTO' rock 'n' play. You're not supposed to rock it by hand." Yes, I know. But if you're a person who is bothered by white noise (as mentioned above), and Baby still wants the motion, you'll have a harder time rocking this version than the previous model.

All in all, I can say without hesitation that THIS product made the "newborn stage" a breeze. The kids absolutely love it (My oldest son slept in it EVERY NIGHT until he was 6 months old!) and my sanity is, for the most part, in tact. I don't function well without a full night's sleep, and thanks to the Rock 'n' Play, everyone in our house is well-rested!

the product is ok but the auto rock feature is no good. A single rubber band is what completes the cycle. When that rubber band broke after a month of use in the middle of the night my baby was upset and so was I. Save the 10 dollars and get the non auto version or get a different version. Wish they sold packs of rubber bands for this toy.

My daughter received as a gift for her new baby . She used it right away. It was perfect for my grandaughter . Its very easily to move and folds up to bring along. The vibration soothed her and put her to sleep. It also rocked but you had to keep it rocking. So when I needed a baby shower gift. I bought the one that vibrated and had the motor to set to rock itself. This is a great idea for new moms and there babies. My grandaughter used for about 6 months of age

        Still going strong

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Deluxe Newborn Auto Rock 'N Play Sleeper:

We purchased this the day after we got home from the hospital and have used it almost every day since - 9 months now! We have used the rocker motor in all the modes (stay on, timed self-turn-off, music, soothing noises, no noises) and we never had the motor issues others described. The auto-rock is key! It is an excellent nap space (we took the toy off) and is great soothing distraction. We will be sad to size out of it soon (our little one is getting so big), but it was worth every penny.

I'm kind of shocked that this has gotten such bad reviews. It has been heaven sent for us! I have a set of twins who spent a month in the NICU. When they got home, it was hard to get one back to sleep without waking the other. If I had a early waker, it was easy for me to move them from the crib to this auto rocker to help soothe them back to sleep. My twins are six months old and we still use it daily for naps. The choices for sounds is great, too! Honestly, I recommend this product to ANYONE.

Baby slept in it from newborn - 4 months. Didn't use rock n play part of it, just more for a bed. Nice because you can see baby while laying in bed. I personally didn't like the noise it makes while rocking. I like to sleep in quiet.

This sling is a MUST for ever mom and baby out there! I have twins so needless to say that I bought two! We call them "tacos" I'm our house bc it reminded me of a taco shell :)! I take my "tacos" to every family event/friends house! They are shaped to fit a baby's body perfectly and the cloth insert can be easily removed for washing. With the rocking motion and sweet baby music that plays my children are fast asleep when it comes time for a nap! The only thing I wish this item had was a strap for carrying, since I take mine every where but I don't wanna get too greedy! I would highly recommend this product !

My friend from work said this was a lifesaver for his family and a must have. As first-time parents, we asked a lot of questions and so glad we were told about it. Our little one has slept in this since the day he was born about 95 percent of the time. He is now 3.5 months and still sleeps in it beside our bed and quite often sleeps all night. It is also helpful if your baby has acid reflux or spits up a lot. We had a stage where he didn't like lying flat after he ate so this was perfect! It's easy to take with us when we travel too. We don't always use the automatic rocker, but it works awesome when we do!

This Rock n Play was great for the baby during the first couple of months. However, my baby quickly outgrew this and became bored while sitting in it. But, I would recommend this product for newborns. The rocking motion, vibration, and lullaby are all good features.

I bought this for my now 6 week old baby a few weeks back. He seemed to hate lying flat and he spits up a lot. This is made of soft material that seems to cradle him. It rocks well even on carpet. He sleeps longer in this than anything else so far. The incline seems enough so it keeps him upright for the spit up but not so much it crunches his neck like his swing does. I don't use the music or vibration with him as he doesn't seem to care so I can't comment on those functions. The fabric is easily removed for washing and I removed the toy since he's too young to play with it and it makes it harder to slide him into his spot.I wish I had bought this for him rather than the bassinet I now never use.
