I purhcased the Europa Baby Palisades Lifetime crib based on the Consumer Reports recommendation. I purchased the toddler rail and bed rails at the same time. All from Babies R Us. Babies R Us was out of stock in the crib and conversion kit in honey oak finish in our region. However, we were able to have it delivered for in-store pick-up to a nearby store in Wisconsin, which is supplied by a different regional warehouse.

The crib was very easy for me to assemble at 30 weeks pregnant. All items arrived undamaged.

I like that the crib is low to the ground. Being only 5'2", I feel like I won't throw my back out changing the sheets or picking up my baby.

The downside is that the crib is on the larger end of the federal guidlines for internal size requirements. This means it is indeed hard to find a snug-fitting mattress. I initially purchased the Serta Perfect Dream mattress, which is made in cooperation with Baby Italia (the parent company that makes the Europa Baby Palisades Crib). So, I thought it would fit the crib, but it didn't. I could easily fit two finger widths between the crib and mattress when I had the mattress shoved all the way in one corner. I called the Europa Baby customer service line and asked them what mattress they recommended buying. They said any of the Serta mattresses made by Baby Italia should work. Also, they told me it was ok to be able to fit two fingers between the mattress and internal sides of the crib. Well, that was a frustrating answer to receive. I returned the Serta and did some more research on mattresses.

Today I came home with the Stearns & Foster Baby Dynasty Eco-Luxe 2-Stage Infant-Toddler Mattress. It fits great! Very snug all around. I can fit about one finger between the crib and mattress, so I will still be able to change the sheets. The Stearns & Foster cost a bit more than I had originally anticipated spending on a mattress, but it seems very well-made and I think it will last a long time.

Overall, I am very pleased with the craftsmanship and value of the crib and mattress I ended up with.

I chose this crib because I am only 5'2" and didn't want to use a step stool to get the baby into the crib as we lower the mattress. We knew we didn't want a pine crib as we will be moving in the future. This crib's high ratings on Consumer Reports combined with many positive reviews on here made me feel secure in the decision we were making. However, it became virtually impossible to find this crib in stock as they are apparently beginning to phase it out for a new line. After a ton of searching we found the crib and I couldn't be happier. The assembly was easy and it totally meets my expectations. Our little man hasn't arrived yet, but I can't imagine not liking the crib once he is. We are still trying to find a mattress that fits, but I knew that would happen after reading the reviews. Any suggestions for a foam core mattress that doesn't break the bank?

My daughter who is now almost 2 and a half has slept in her crib since her first night home. She has just started successfully climbing out. I really love this crib, I just wish the conversion kits would be cheaper. They are as much as a whole new bed!!
We get compliments every time someone new sees the crib, and two of my sisters have asked to borrow it. We don't have an issue with the mattress not fitting at all. The exposed hardware isn't an issue either, in fact I hardly ever noticed it until I read some reviews! Maybe its just something you get use to...?
This crib seems really sturdy as well. She is a monkey and spends a good 20 minutes jumping on the bed, and she also use to kick the rails when she was fighting sleep, nothing has broken or came loose.
Our mobile fit on it fine, so I'm not sure what the issue was with the other reviewers. I also know better now, and her bed is not near a window and I took those stupid bumpers off!

We love this crib! It is absolutely beautiful and we have gotten so many compliments on it. The wood is solid and not flimsy like other cribs we have seen before. My son is 2.5 now and this crib has held up really well over time. I highly recommend it to others. It took my husband an hour and half to put together. The other good thing is that the lowest mattress setting is pretty low so my son still can't climb out of it.

My son is very clumsy and hes like bam bam loves to hit things, so he bumps his crib alot! Alot of the reviews said that crib was easy to scratch but my son is now 1 year & 5 months & has yet to be scratched. The only thing the crib does has is a bite mark from when he was teething lol. Great crib!

Very well made, the cherry wood seems very durable and beautiful. Sturdy crib. It took my son-in-law about an hour to assemble, he stated he ran into a couple of problems but a person won't notice. The only thing I can pick out about this crib that I don't like is, I wish the screws were more concealed.

My daughter is about 2-1/2 and we are still very impressed and happy with this crib. It was easy enough to assemble - I did it myself when I was about 8 months pregnant. The crib survived through her teething with very little scratching - hardly even noticeable. Very sturdy and holds up to all her jumping and climbing. She has fallen out once, but we just needed to lower the mattress again to solve that problem. Now that she's getting older (and has a sister on the way), I'm online looking at options again. One thing I wish I had paid closer attention to when choosing this crib was the conversion kit. The conversion kit to toddler bed costs $70 and the kit for a full size bed is $200! If I had looked more closely at that, I probably would have chosen a different bed. Now that I'm shopping around for another convertible crib for my next child, I'm definitely paying more attention to how much these kits cost.
