Product Description

The new and improved Aquarium Tub has plenty of updates to a product that is already a proven winner. The tub design itself has become deeper and provides a more comfortable position for baby to be bathed in, along with our new baby stopper tm insert that easily comes out when the infant can sit on their own. The sling design has also been improved to allow baby to rest comfortably within the water, plus it fits older infants as well as newborns. Other great features include a temperature guide so Mom can ensure that the water is a right for baby, and it still includes 2 fun tub toys for baby to play with. And the Aquarium theme is updated to a fresh new look!

Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

My baby loves bath time and this tub has been perfect! I love the different supports it comes with to adjust with your baby's development. Not to mention it's easy to dry as it comes with its own hook, so we just store in the guest bath.

I only wish that there was a way to adjust the recline as my baby is a supported sitter right now, so she can't sit up by herself, but while reclined, she spends a lot of her time straining to sit up. Also, I wish it came with some no-slip grip pads on the bottom of the tub -- As is, I think it may be a bit slippery for when she starts sitting up on her own...

This tub worked well for us; however we did experience a problem (see "warning" below). Here are the Pro's & Con's about this tub:
PROs:
- The mesh hammock allows the rinse water to drain away from baby (i.e., the baby doesn't end up sitting in the dirty soap water because it filters through the mesh).
- The attached toy/teething ring kept my baby occupied while bathing.
- The tub fit just fine on our (long) countertop, and I was able to position the tub drain right above the sink for continuous draining into the sink. (Note, this changed once we used it inside our adult bath tub -- see below).
CONs:
- While laying on the hammock, baby will not be immersed in warm water during bathing. If you use the mesh hammock, baby will be suspended up and away from the water. This means that the wet baby might get cold being exposed to the air while you bathe him. We always kept the house quite warm (we turned up the heater during bath time) so this was not an issue for us. But, I thought I'd throw this out there for those who have babies that get cold easily.
- It would have been nice to have a non-skid bottom so that that the tub didn't slide around the counter or ceramic bath tub. We sometimes placed it on top of a towel to stabilize it.
- I wish this tub had feet to raise it up a little bit. This would aid in water drainage when you start using it inside a bigger adult bath tub. We started using this tub inside our adult tub, and it lies flat against the tub floor, so that the drainage hole gets covered and becomes useless. The little tub starts to fill up quickly with the dirty soap water, making clean rinses impossible without having to hold up the (slippery) baby with one hand. I might buy one of those baby bathing gloves to give me more "baby grip".
- Now, here is my WARNING: The plastic tub has a hump in the middle which serves as a seat for bigger babies (when used without the hammock). The hammock lies directly above this hump, and there is very little space between them. This means that when your baby gets heavy enough, the hammock will still suspend him -- but not high enough -- and his back will come in contact with the hump, with all his body weight on it. Imagine lying on a boulder or log against your back, and you will know how it feels! Please STOP using the mesh hammock once the baby's back comes in contact with the hump. Before each bath time, just quickly run your hand between the baby's back and the hump to make sure there is space between them. I did not always do this -- as you know, sometimes parents are on auto-pilot mode and go through our usual routines without always being vigilant. My baby ended up with a red mark across his back and was in pain. I feel terrible that my baby had to go through that and I am living with the guilt. That's why I decided to write this review -- to give other parents a heads-up.
So, in summary: Yes, I would recommend this bath tub; just make sure you are watchful of the baby's back against the hump.

It doesn't fit on top of the bathtub so I had to bend down into the bathtub to wash my baby. It has a nice hook for hanging the bathtub though.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Deluxe Aquarium Bath Tub:

My daughter is 4 1/2 months and I have been using this tub since her birth. Overall it meets my expectations and I am happy with it. The selling point on this tub for me was the hook that I use to hang on the shower rod for it to dry. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is very large and hard to store when not in use. I believe they make tubs that fold in half for storage which I will probably look into for child #2.

The tub was too big to fit in my kitchen sink, so for the first month I placed the tub on the counter top, but I was so nervous having her there I never bathed her without my husband present. Once I started putting it in my bathtub I was much more comfortable bathing her alone. The tub did slide around in my bathtub so I need to put the bathmat down when I use it.

YOU DO NOT USE THE SEATING BAR WITH THE INFANT NETTING. I read several reviews where people did this and were worried about injuring their children. The bar is detachable, as per the instructions, you do not use it with the netting. I stopped using the netting when my daughter was 3 1/2 months and 13 lbs, I had no problems with the netting. I probably could have stopped sooner but it wasn't until she started really squiggling in it that it became a problem.

One thing I did want to share, since I was so use to washing her with the netting, just lifting a leg to wash her bum, it did take a few washes using the seating bar to figure out the best way to clean her behind. When I lean her forward to wash her back, I lean her further to get her bum. I'm a first time Mom, it may seem like common sense to some, but for those others, I hope that tid bit helps.

Personally I love the Fisher Price products, I find them all incredibly easy to assemble, the instructuions are so clear you don't have to worry you did somthing wrong that may injure your child.

I like the color and the guality of plastic it's made off compare to what I saw before ..

I have been telling all my new mommy friends about this tub bc it is large enough to grow with a growing baby but has the comfy sling for when they are tiny newborns. My 8 month old who is 19 lbs is still going to fit in this tub for awhile and he loves to stay in there splashing his feet as long as he can. Some of my friends bought smaller tubs and their baby grew out of it at 5-6 mos, which is early to have to move to a big bathtub.

The hammock part for newborns to lay in for bathing is great, but the drain at the bottom of the tub is in a bad place & is not useful during bath time. If the tub drain was at the bottom corner of the tub, but not all the way under the tub, it would be useful during bath time so that water can be let out during bath time so that warmer water can be put in the tub to keep the water a good tempurature for baby. The way the drain is now, if the temperature of the water starts to cool off, baby has to be removed from the tub to allow water to be replaced & warmed up.

I really don't care for the color but my wife does, so it's going back because we are having a girl.
