We bought this for my 3.5 year old daughter to celebrate moving into a new house - we told her the "moving fairy" brought it :) She absolutely adores it, and honestly, it was one of the things that made our move smooth, and the transition easier for her. I love that its modern looking and the open space means she can make any part of it any room. Its big enough for flexible play, but not so big that it takes up a ton of room (it fits perfect on her play table). I bought a 2nd one to give as a gift to my daughter's daycare for the holidays.

Although it was easy to assemble generally, getting the sliding doors to stay in place was a bit difficult - I wish that the top piece permanently affixed to the bottom.

Cool and Kid-Friendly

This is a really cool dollhouse, particularly if you don't like the traditional (fussy, to my mind) look of a lot of dollhouses. The fact that the sides and rooms are so open and flexible allows for a lot of creativity. One word of caution, however: it is HARD to put together. It looks easy, but it took me at least an hour (and several curses) before it was ready for my daughter to play with.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
