Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

To all the people who complain about minimum heights and facing your baby forward. YOU ARE SO WRONGLY INFORMED! It is so very important to have your baby rear-facing until they absolutely outgrow the requirements for height and weight rear-facing. Watch just one video of a crash with a baby facing both ways and you will never ever face your baby forward prematurely again.
That said this car seat is wonderful. I bought it today and while I knew it was not easy to install rear-facing it was not that difficult. Tricky but I have it in so securely after 2 tries that it does not move an inch at all. My daughter also enjoys it and seems perfectly pleased with her new seat.
I got it in rear-facing without using the latch system without too much effort and while it does take a good bit of space in my subaru outback I can still have people sit in back although it will be snug.

DO NOT just assume because your child is 1 year old it is safe to turn them forward that is so completely ignorant and those guidelines have actually been changed to 2 years because it is MUCH MUCH safer rear-facing.

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

This is the first online review that I have ever done, but it's because I want to warn consumers about this seat since Babies R Us doesn't even mention the minimum height requirement on their site. I bought this car seat when my son outgrew is infant seat. We still had a couple of months until his first birthday and thus forward facing. This car seat has a minimum height requirement of 34" in order to safely use it ff, which is a typical limitation for car seats. I contacted the manufacturer, who said the car seat is not rated for ff use for shorter children and then they proceeded to lecture me on keeping my child rear-facing for at least another couple of years. I am concerned about my child's safety, but feel that if we were in an accident the direction of his car seat would not be the difference between life and death (especially if the rest of the car seat is rated so well in crash tests). My son is in the 75% for height and would likely not reach the 34" height requirement for many more months or even another year. This car seat is extremely large and takes up a lot of space when installed rear facing and at the correct recline angle. We are unable to use the front seat of our cars (even our large SUV), which was fine for the couple of months that we thought we would need to use it rear-facing, but I will not put up with such a large rear-facing car seat for any longer when there are better options available.[...](we decided to not go with the pricy Britax models, but rather the Evenflo Symphony 65).

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

I purchased this today and will be returning it tomorrow. While the safety features seem fabulous.. it would be more ideal for a toddler. It was terrible to install for my 6 month old. When I finally was able to get the car seat level in the rear facing position and set up... I was able to completely knock out out of position again when I did a trial hit to see what would happen during transportation let alone impact. The side air bags were great, but not ideal for long term use when a child would like to see on the sides.

Nice overall, with a few drawbacks

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

Overall this car seat is very nice, and the side impact protection is inobtrusive. The few drawbacks I've found are slightly annoying, but not enough to make me stop using it.

PROS
- Adjusting the strap length is VERY easy, even in rear-facing position.
- The strap height adjusts along with the side impact adjustment. Every other car seat I've seen you have to remove the straps to adjust their height. This is a nice feature.
- This car seat has much more pronounced side impact protection than the other ones I've seen. Before I used it I was worried that it would be in the way when putting my son in and out, but I haven't had any problems. It also doesn't bother him when he is riding in the seat.
- The LATCH buckles are very easy to attach and remove from the anchors on my car. I am able to unhook the buckles from the anchors without having to loosen the strap first, which makes removing the seat very easy.

CONS
- I have to press the button very hard to release the buckles. Early on there was a time or two where I actually couldn't get them to release. Fortunately my husband was around and could get it to release. Over time it has gotten easier, but I still have to press very hard.
- The line marking horizontal when the seat is rear-facing is underneath the seat cover. This makes it hard to see when installing the seat. Also, other car seats have a built-in level which is more accurate than "eyeballing" the line, and easier than having to use my own level.
- The seat takes up a lot of space front to back when installed properly in the rear-facing position. I have a PT cruiser, and with the front passenger seat in the second position from the front, I still cannot tip the car seat forward enough to get the line level. I suspect other commenters who say the seat is too upright do not have it installed properly (with the line level). This is my biggest concern with this seat - it really should be more intuitive to install properly, and should not take up so much room. However, it appears that these will not be issues when installed in the front-facing position.

In conclusion, this seat offers good side impact protection that does not interfere with its use. Strap adjustment is very easy, although unbuckling is difficult. LATCH buckles are very easy to use. In the rear-facing position this seat takes up a lot of room and can be difficult to install properly, but front-facing should be better.

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

Just bought this yesterday and my son fits in it perfectly! He is eight months and a big boy, so we needed a seat to stay backwards and give him a little more room for his feet not to touch the back seat. I love the video demo, and would pay double if I knew it would keep my son safe. The air sides are great too, in addition to the windown tinting in my car, help keep the sun out of his face a little better. We had to roll a towl to keep the level balanced, per the green sticker directions, but love that I can control how high or low I want him to sit. We did it a little more reclined, instead of the almost laying down, but its perfect. The only bummer is that it only goes to 50 lbs, but I am sure we can find another great booster by then anyway. Just wanted to save a few bucks. My husband has one that goes to 100 lbs, but this one came out after we had bought and I wanted it no matter what. Would buy again!

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

Love the fabric and comfort aspects of the seat, along with the design (comes out to protect sides of child's head). However, this was difficult to install with a small car. I'm sure this is the case with any convertible car seat with a higher back when you are trying to rear-face it. Had to move front seats up pretty far to make sure I had enough room to get the seat level as instructed. Apparently you can fwd face at 22lbs so I will be looking forward to that as it shouldn't be long for us. I would recommend getting an infant seat for new babies and getting this seat when your baby is starting to grow out of the infant seat just for ease of use and installation.

Comments about Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat - Harvest:

I bought this seat to use in my husband's truck so that we could keep our 2y/o rear facing. I have the Radian XT (awsome seat!) for my minivan but for the truck it takes up too much space rear facing front to back. The complete air can be installed rear facing at 30degrees quite easily so it fits in smaller spaces nicely. This seat has a taller shell/40lb. rear facing so it will last you longer than any of the Britax convertibles. It can be a little more difficult to install and using a tightly rolled towel or pool noodle is perfectly fine/safe to achieve the proper angle. Please do your research on extended rear facing, it is much safer! This seat will not a newborn but is a great choice after the infant bucket seat has been outgrown.
