Product Description

Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops are Vitamin D supplement drops, essential for all breastfed infants. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends using a vitamin D supplement for exclusively and partially breastfed babies because of low average levels of vitamin D in breast milk, your baby's doctor may recommend Enfamil D-Vi-Sol drops.

Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Great Product! My daughter's pediatrician suggested this since I am exclusively breast feeding her. I have been giving it to her since she was 1 week old, and I have absolutely no complaints. She loves the taste, and it doesn't stain. Would definitely recommend if you are exclusively breast feeding.

I used this for my exclusively breastfed baby because it was recommended by her doctor. I was happy to give her these drops because my daughter never seemed to mind the taste. However, I just read the ingredients on the bottle and I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! It contains Artificial Ingredients and Artificial Coloring... and Preservatives. I chose to breastfeed my daughter because I wanted her to have the best nutrition possible. I feel the D-Vi-Sol has interfered with my efforts (I now have to live with the fact that for 5 months straight my daughter was fed Glycerin, Polysorbate 80, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hydroxide, Artificial Flavor, Artificial Caramel Color). Never again will I trust the opinion of the Dr. without checking it out for myself. How can this be #1 recommended brand? I will now be purchasing vitamin D drops without any of these unnecessary chemicals. I hope to see this change in the future for Enfamil, but until then I will no longer be a customer

ineffective new dropper

By John

from portage MI

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops 50 ml:

My daughters never took this directly from the bottle. we have to give mixing with either the breast milk or regular milk after 1 year. My wife tasted it and hated the taste. but we stuck with it because that was the only available brand and we did not know other brands existed.
with the addition of the new dropper, it made it even more difficult to use. you have to have free two hands (filling the syringe from the bottle and putting it into the mlk bottle carrying a baby is quite difficult). Moreover, it is flimsy- no smooth ejection of the fluid. the worst part is washing and keeping it on the drying rack or mat where it accumulates dust (that you can not see with your bare eyes) and then you introduce this into the fresh bottle of vitamin D along with the dust or whatever it was in touch with the whole previous day. Frankly, this was a deal breaker and my search showed there are other well rated drops out there with better droppers! i wish i had done this research long ago with my first daughter!

Our baby girl turned one week old today. She has slept great the past week. Tonight we gave her the d visol drops and she has been up all night crying off and on. We have noticed her having gas as well. I would not recommend this to anyone. After reading previous reviews on the ingredients, I can see why this would keep her up all night with a tummy ache. I can't believe that something like this would be on the market.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops 50 ml:

I got this from my pharmacy to use on my newborn who is exclusively breastfeeding. To my horror upon reading the ingredient list I found this product to be loaded with artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. Caramel color that contains 4MEI (a carcinogen) was put in a product for an infant????!?!? Shame on you Enfamil. I'm glad I have a Food Science degree and knew better than give this to my child - but I am upset that you would even offer a product with those types of UNNECESSARY ingredients for infants to families who may not know better. SHAME ON YOU! I just ordered another product from your competitor which contain only vitamin d - no other unnecessary ingredients. I will not be buying any of your products because I have no faith in you making safe quality products after seeing this.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops 50 ml:

I used this product for 2 days after my son (preemie 34wks 5pounds at 8oz at time of birth) was discharged from hospital a week after birth. I was told by his nicu nurse to get him Vitamin D drops because I breatfeed. No specific brand though. My husband bought Enfamils brand. I gave my son 1 dose for 2 days. Day 1 his stool started to become greenish. Day 2 He started having hard time passing his bowel which he never had. So I immediately stopped use. Last night he was fussy would not sleep because he could not pass his bowel. I am actually currently looking on ways to help his constipation and came across this.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops 50 ml:

I have been giving D-VI-Sol to my 2 children for over 4 years. In the original bottles, it came with an oral bulb dispenser that can screw on to bottle. Now, the new bottle comes with an oral syringe. Yes the oral syringe may provide a more accurate dose but it does not come with a bottle adapter. This means you can drop the whole syringe into the bottle. Also, 2 hands are require to hold the oral syringe. I'm afraid one day, I will accidentally tip the bottle and spill everything. With a bottle adapter, the oral syringe tip can be inserted into the adapter and invert the bottle to draw out the amount desired- no worry about spilling. Please, provide a bottle adapter for each bottle. If not go back to the bulb oral syringe.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil D-Vi-Sol Vitamin Drops 50 ml:

With the new syringe, I now require my husband's help to give the vitamins to my daughter. Before, with the dropper, I could do it with one hand. Now, because the syringe falls apart easily when you get to 1ml and because it's difficult to hold in the bottle and pull the blue part out, I need two hands. Two steady hands are not always available with an infant in your arms. The other thing that was easier with the dropper was dispensing into the child's mouth. I could control the release a lot better. I find myself squirting too much for her to swallow with the syringe because of the friction and it gets wasted.

We've scoured the store for the old dropper to use going forward since we threw our old one out before we knew the design changed.. sadly, we haven't found one.

I live in Montana so there really isn't any sun. When I gave birth to my son, our pediatrician told us to get this for him. We did and it made him fussy, gassy, and not happy. So we discontinued until he was 5 months old and tried again because his skin was drying out and spotty. Works perfect now! I recommend this product but not to newborns. Also, the dispensing of it needs to be easier. I do like the Tylenol dispensing. less contaminants if there was a hole on top and syringe goes in it. I also put this in his formula or cereal...who would like to take vitamins straight anyway!!!???

I use this for my son every morning and he had bee doing great with it. Then we opened a new box this morning to find a syringe instead of the convenient dropper. It now requires an extra hand and extra cleanup to give my son his vitamins. What a disappointment. We will be searching for a new brand with infant-friendly dosing after we finish up this bottle using the dropper from our previous one.
