Comments about Chicco SmartSupport Backpack - Navy:

We used the pack for three hikes in the Rocky Mountain region. The first venture we took with the pack was about a 4 hour hike gaining about 1,000 feet. The pack was uncomfortable from the start. All the weight was directly on the shoulders no matter how the waist belt was adjusted. There is very little room for adjustments for different sizes of people who may be carrying the little one. There is a big space in the middle of your back. The pack does not shape or fit snug to your back putting enormous strain in the middle of your back (don't forget the pain in the shoulders). From our little one's (9 months old) perspective, she seemed very comfortable and fell asleep in it and stayed asleep for a good part of the hike. We decided to pay an extra $100 and go with a company who makes and specializes in backpack gear and not baby gear and are much more happy and not at sore!

Comments about Chicco SmartSupport Backpack - Navy:

Overall this is a very good product. We purchased this before flying out of town for a few days and the good thing is that it folds flat enough to be stored in the overhead bins on the plane (counts as a carry on-plus with a baby you get to board first so you can unload it onto the empty seats).

The baby likes it because she can see everything from my level and mom is able to give her snacks easily. It's fairly comfortable with good padding for me and baby and I like the fact that I can lock/unlock the legs while she's on my back just by pulling the straps or extending the legs.

My only issue (not really) is that the first time I used it was for about an hour and my shoulders started to get sore for that length of time. I realized though if you have it tight around your waist and chest the baby doesn't "hang" as much and therefore makes it more comfortable for the carrier because it spreads the load more evenly across your back/shoulders. I think it's great for the mall, park or a good walk as it has a cell phone (or eyeglass) holder for the front strap and a pouch for small items in the back.

Definitely a recommended purchase, it's more convenient if in a crowded area vs. a stroller.

Comments about Chicco SmartSupport Backpack - Navy:

Just what we expected - great! We bought this mainly for my husband to wear. He's 6'1" and it fits him well. We started using it when our 5 month old was about 17 pounds (so a little before the recommended 6 months, but he holds his head up well so he was fine). I wish the bag was a little bigger, but I like that you can clip it to the backpack or wear it around your waist. That would be very helpful if I were alone and using this.

Comments about Chicco SmartSupport Backpack - Navy:

I was tempted by the price of this pack, but as a hiker, I should have known better. A quality pack should have a wide, padded strap that sits on the hips and distributes weight to the lower half of the body. The pack should feel like it is perched on your hips and holds itself up. With this one, the weight was all on my shoulders, pulling me down. After a few minutes my fingers were tingling from poor circulation, and after 30 minutes, my shoulders were absolutely killing me. Also, my child's head was several inches lower than mine, even though she is a very tall 14-month-old, so she was looking at the back of my head. I returned it immediately, but could not do so by mail because once you snap the back rod into place, there is no way to collapse it, so it won't go back in the box. I had to return it to the store and got store credit instead of my money back. This is one problem with "hassle-free returns" for on-line purchases. I now realize that to get a really good pack I'll probably need to go through a hiking company rather than a baby company. It will cost a lot more but it will be worth it.

I bought this to take on a camping trip where I knew we would be hiking. Our daughter is 2 and too heavy to carry on our own for long distances. She was unsure about being in the backpack at first, but when we started moving, she didn't make a peep. My husband says it was very comfortable to wear. We got caught in the rain for awhile, and the canopy kept her dry.

Comments about Chicco SmartSupport Backpack - Navy:

Used this to carry around my niece and nephew (25 and 35 lbs each) and the backpack really helped distribute the weight evenly. There was little strain on my back. I was able to get each kid in and out of the pack with no assistance. Great product!
