The design station is a nice little accessory to have with the beads. It has a space to put the tray and the templates. My younger dog quickly chewed up the suction thingy, but it wasn't a total lost. My son had no problem using his hands to pick up the pixos balls. He also had some tweezer like plastic things from a board game that worked just as well. A regular tweezer will also work okay. The spray bottle is very helpful, but don't spray too much water. It takes longer for the design to dry.

The fan is useless, just a nice idea to add to the design station. But, it doesn't dry the designs. I got a nice blow dryer that speeded up the process nicely. Since the design was on the plastic tray, I used a spatula to lift the pixos design off the tray once it was dry enough and put it on some non stick foil to finish drying.

The tray feature that divides the pixos and distibutes them to a tray is pretty cool and helps a little for designing purposes. We haven't used the 3D feature yet.

Overall, this design station isn't a total waste, but the fan feature will not dry the pixos. Your kid would be sitting there for hours holding the hose. The product is useful for making designs and organizing the pixos. However, it is not necessary. You can use stuff around the house or from the dollar store to achieve the same results. I got the design station as a Christmas present for my son, so I thought the it would be a nice accessory for the design kits. It really is up to you as the consumer if you want to spend the extra cash for it.

My son usually has little patience, which is why he is not a video gamer. He gave this a try and I was really proud of him. He's having fun with it. Make sure you do the designs on a level area because the beads will get loose with too much movement.

Needed to come with more little pixo beads, but this kept both my kids busy for hours. Great for fine motor but can get a bit frustrating for younger ones.

My 6 yo son got this for Christmas. I am returning it tomorrow. It is a piece of junk. The balls don't stay together unless you use alot of water, which the instructions specifically say not to do. Also they take at least a day to dry completely. My son was upset and frustrated because it's not something you can use and get results the same day.

Also the part that drops the balls down jams constantly.
