i think this PSP is the best PSP ever made, it has wifi just like the previous models, but this psp has bluetooth. it has a 16 gigabytes of internal memory you cant actually play UMD's on the new psp go, you have to download games or videos at the playstation market place the new exclusive slide feature has made the psp go a lot smaller than other previous models, also it is approximately 43% lighter and 56% smaller than the original psp 1000 the screen has its ups and downs, the psp go's screen is smaller (3.8'') than the psp 3000 which is (4.3''), but on the positive side, it has the same resolution which means it is a bit more crisp than the previous models The psp go's screen slides up to reveal the main controls. The overall shape and sliding mechanism are similar to that of Sony's mylo COM-2 internet device. i think that if you are more into more of the digital side of things, choose the psp go, if you are more into the basic designs and technology ,choose the psp 3000, but if you are into online play,id suggest the MYLO 2 the psp go will not be replacing the psp 3000, so you do have other options the psp go

I was given a PSP Go as a present. I fell in love with it's looks and small size (compared to the previous versions). However, once I got to use it, I realized that it wasn't what I expected... at all.

The problem with this product is that it isn't very user friendly. Once you pull it out of the box you are forced to FULLY charge the battery since you're not allowed to do anything at all if you don't do that first (it needs to be at least 80% charged). I should mention that the PSP Go doesn't allow the use of a replaceable battery. Which means that on those long trips you have to depend on the one the system has.

Getting to play a single game is a process that involves performing several steps that can take you up to 30 minutes. You have to update and download stuff to the system. The fact that it uses the dated 802.11b standard for it's wi-fi connection doesn't help either.

I also realized that none of my old PSP accessories would work with the PSP Go. The biggest problem is with the way you get the games for the system. The PSP Go does not have a UMD player in it. You can only get games from the Playstation Store. All the PSP Go games are downloaded to the system. So you cannot sell them later if you ever get bored with them. Once you buy them, you can kiss goodbye any chance of getting your money back by any means.

In short, I cannot recommend this product to anybody unless you happen to be a big PSP supporter. With $50.00 more, you should get a PS3 Slim instead. And please stick with your previous PSP model. Don't waste your time with this one.

Comments about Sony Computer Entertainment 1011496 Sony PSP Go Handheld Gaming System - Black:

I'm not going to compare the PSP Go to a DS or an iPod Touch. On its own merits it is an excellent device that deserves praise. It has excellent build quality, excellent graphics, excellent control, etc. It truly is an amazing little game system. If you know what you are getting into then you should not be disappointed.
The PSP Go's biggest plus over the PSP is the design. The Go's smaller body give it a better "portable" feel when compared to the 3000. It is much more pocket friendly and does so without sacrificing the overall feel of the system. Those that had the previous style of PSP should not have much of a problem adjusting to the smaller frame of the Go, I certainly didn't. The smaller body, means a smaller screen though; and whether or not this is a pro or con is relative. I find it as a pro because the smaller screen with the same resolution equals slightly sharper graphics. The screen size decrease, in my opinion, adds sharpness but doesn't sacrifice vision. Its smaller, but its still big enough.
As stated before, the build quality is really nice. The slide mechanism on the Go is amazingly satisfying. It feels like it won't break or deteriorate no matter how many times you do it. I sometimes found myself sliding it up and down for no reason except that its satisfying. The buttons have a clickylike feedback when pressed that make them feel better in place. Sony's engineers have even added small rubber slivers on the back to add extra grip, which also works well for not scratching up the back when laying the device down or moving it along a surface. This truly does feel like a premium system.
On the performance side, there isn't much to report when put against the 3000. The only thing is that the Go is obviously faster. With the lack of UMD loading the Go sometimes far exceeds load times with games. The difference is night and day.
Feature wise however, the Go adds a new perk that is very welcome. Bluetooth capabilities are now placed in the Go and they come in very handy. Bluetooth headsets can be connected to the Go for wireless chit-chat. This seems to be a perfect addition for the Go or even just the PSP platform. Now you don't have to have the PSP near you for those Skype chats. Even more impressive though is that it is possible to play the PSP with a PS3 controller. Not really useful without a PS3 (since its necessary for the connection), but assuming you have one and perhaps the TV cables, then you can play the PSP as if it were a home console, from anywhere in the room, a very awesome setup indeed!
The Go seems like a very good device so far right? Well if you think this is the part where I say that it isn't all so nice, you thought wrong. Things aren't perfect in PSP land I admit, but lets look at it from an uncommon perspective. The lack of UMD on the Go means everything comes from the Playstation Network. No way to get around this folks, just accept it. There will be games on the NETWORK that cost more than retail, there will be games not available on the NETWORK, there will be bundles that come with things not available on the NETWORK. Do you see a pattern here? You will lose out on things because of the network. I don't think this should be a strike against the Go though, I think it should be a strike against the PS Network.
"Why is that?" you ask. Well that is because the causes of those previously mentioned negatives are not because of the Go, but because of developers and publishers. Those people choose to put their games on the network, its as simple as that. There are no hardware limitations on the Go that caused these little nagging issues. Yes the lineup is technically smaller for the Go, but that is something you should know going into the purchase. Even without every UMD game on the network, at this moment you still have a lot of good games and an excellent selection from the PS Store. There are simply a lot of games to choose from and a lot of them are high quality.
Wrapping this review up, I will mention something briefly regarding the monetary value of the Go. At $250 USD, the Go is not for everyone. Those who currently own a PSP will be happy with what they have. There is nothing on the Go that screams upgrade. Not only that though, but obviously those with a library of physical games won't be able to play them on a Go. I could also understand people finding the device to be too expensive when adding $50 can net you a Blu-ray playing, HD gaming, Playstation 3. I understand all of that, but I still like the device enough that obviously I bought one. I am just one of those people that don't care for a lot of money though. At the same time I think it would be reasonable for the device to cost a price somewhere in the ballpark of the 3000. I also don't own a single PSP UMD or a PSP 3000 right now so as a sort of new comer (I traded all my PSP games and PSP 3000 in some time ago), the pill is a lot easier to swallow.

Comments about Sony Computer Entertainment 1011496 Sony PSP Go Handheld Gaming System - Black:

The pro about this is the financial predation Sony will make off of it It doesn't have the disk drive or drive reader and is smaller so cost a lot less to manufacture but Sony is charging $100 more than it is worth. The battery is built in so it cannot be replaced when needed and will have built in obsolesence. The cost of the games should be half of what they are charging. There is no UMC to make and write on and not cover for the disk to make so they make a lot more by getting you to download. You cannot sell or transfer your games making them trash to you when you are tired of them.It takes 4 hours to download when before this rip off you could go to the store pick up a UMC immediately start to use it. Sell or trade it it later. It is a pain in the rear and time consuming navigating the PSN site and you are forced to install Media Go if downloading on your computer. This software is totally unecessary and Sony tries to make you download Itunes if you are not carefull about installing it. Try to use a credit card for adding money to your wallet and it doesn't work but Sony blames you when it is their problem as verified by the bank.
