Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

This is really a great product! My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux at about 5wks old. Dr's had us try lots of different formulas, and they thought it wasn't the formula. I thought otherwise. I decided to see a different Dr, who gave me a sample of Nutramigen to try. I noticed a difference right away. She would cry all day long and I couldn't put her down. She also gave me Goodstart to try and said it was a cheap alternative. Being that we are in the recesion I tried that last week. I gave her a couple ounces one night and the same the next day. The next two days she was soo fussy and wouldn't let me put her down. I said forget it and now she is back to sleeping during the day and not so fussy. I really wish that they would lower the price on this, but it does help that Enfamil sends out $5 coupons!! Just wish after they start drinking it that you could keep it logner than an hour in the fridge. To me it's too expensive to be throwing away!!

There's been a lot of noise by reviewers on the "old" Nutramigen versus the newer powdered Nutramigen with Enflora LGG. When I switched to formula with my son, I purchased both the powdered version of Nutramigen, which contains the Enflora LGG, and the ready to use cans, which does not contain Enflora LGG. Based on circumstances and convenience I would flip flop between both products. However, I started noticing that when we would use the powdered version of the formula my son would experience extreme gas pains and hard time passing stools. At first I chalked it up to an immature digestive system and that he was just a gassy baby, but then I noticed a pattern. Days that he was primarily on the Nutramigen with Enflora LGG would be followed up with days of intense suffering from gas. On the flip side, when I would feed him the ready made formula (basically out of laziness on my behalf), he would be content happy baby.

After noticing this pattern I contacted Enfamil to get their feedback/advice. I wasn't looking to criticize their product, but simply try and figure out if one version of the Nutramigen was a little more sensitive on my baby's stomach over the other. After talking to one of their "food technicians" they finally admitted to me that although both Nutramigen products are under the same umbrella that they do consider the regular Nutramigen and the Nutramigen with Enflora LGG TWO DIFFERENT FORMULAS. And that switching the between both product IS CONSIDERED A FORMULA CHANGE! However, they did say that most babies don't have a problem switching between the two versions. Ok that's fine and dandy, but Nutramigen is made specifically for baby's with uber sensative digestive tracks, so why wouldn't you specify that up front. Switching formulas is hard enough on any normal baby let alone those that severe digestion problems. Come on Enfamil! What's worse is that they just went and switched the old powdered formula to the new one without even letting parent's know up front. Very very very bad communication Enfamil.

Although I am very disappointed in the added probiotic in the Nutramigen, I will say that this suite of products has done wonders for both my children. My oldest had severe allergies to both soy and dairy and thrived on the Nutramigen AA. So far my second son is doing extremely well on the Ready Made Nutramigen without the Enflora LGG. It would be nice if they made the regular Nutramigen in the powdered form again for cost reasons, but overall it is a good product. It also appreas that many babies can handle and benefit from the Enflora LGG. I just wish they would have done a better job communicating the differences.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Nutramigen Powder Formula - 19.8 Ounce:

My son has a dairy sensitivity, and I spent his first eight weeks trying to figure out why he was so distended and gassy. His pediatrician recommended supplementing with Nutramigen when I wasn't with the baby, and his gas and discomfort have all but disappeared. I do wish it smelled a little bit sweeter... Getting him to take the bottle of formula was really tough after having bottled breast milk; but that is my only complaint.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Nutramigen Powder Formula - 19.8 Ounce:

My daughter had reflux, horrible gas, and colic. We tried Enfamil Gentlease but the constipation did not improve. She had a reoccuring rash, and was constantly fussy. It was a stressful time. Our pediatrician recommended trying Nutramigen (a small container at first due to the high price). Just remember, a happy baby means a happy home. This product is expensive, but worth it. Within 48 hours, it was like we had a new baby. She had a soft belly, regular stools, calm/relaxed demeanor, and only fussed when she was tired or had a wet diaper. We have continued to use this product due to her diagnosis of a milk intolerance. The taste and smell are both horrible, but luckily- babies have not developed the 'comparing' aspect of life, so when hungry- baby will just adapt to the taste. It only took her about one week to truly adapt and accept the formula. You have to mix it VERY well, shake for a good 30 seconds. Contact Enfamil for coupons.

My son was fussy, vomiting, and diarrhea that would leak through his clothes. It took time to get adjusted to but baby is doing so much better! His vomiting stopped! His poop got better. It is very expensive compared to the newborn formula he was on but worth it because he is better on it!

Being an exclusive breast feeder for 20 months the first time around, I was less than excited to come to the conclusion that my son had milk protein intolerance. Luckily, we had a great alternative to choose in Nutramigen! Our son never once refused the formula (regardless of my feelings of the smell :)) and his tummy issues resolved as soon as the milk protein was processed out of his body (and mine) in about 4 days! Thank you Nutramigen for solving our nutrition issue!

this is the 3rd formula that my 11 week old daughter has been on! and it works wonders for her. she was constipated, spitting up, and just fussy. come to find out she has really bad reflex and colic. this was the ONLY formula that has given her any kind of relief. I was having to give her meds to help her go to the bathroom and to keep her from spitting up....with this the only thing that I have to give her is the meds for the colic. I swear by this!
