If my son can benefit from this, any kid can. He got this 2 years ago, it's still working, no lost pieces. He can't read/write, but he learned every state & capital. Hands-on play, verbal and seeing where the states go helps him learn (since can't learn by reading). His IQ level is that of a preschooler at age 18. No one showed him how. State-shaped pieces that fit into the holes are great. He also plays with it for the names. He likes to point out where relatives live, and where the Civil War generals were from, and battles were fought. We LOVE this!

First let me say that this didn't work properly when it was received and I didn't see the fix until I looked at the directions the second time. Many of the states were not saying the correct names. I had to take the batteries out and put them back in to reset everything.

I am a bit disappointed in this. It really doesn't do much. It quickly, too quickly in my opinion, says the name of the state, the nickname and the capital. That's it. If you press the flag it says the Pledge of Allegiance and a couple of other things.

The pieces do not stay in so if you pick it up to move it the pieces will likely fall out. It does have a storage drawer for the pieces which is probably the best part of it.

Overall, I just think it's overpriced for what it is. If it was 30% less then it might be a good buy for the 3-6 age group.

Comments about Tek Nek Talking U.S. Map Puzzle Encyclopedia Britannica:

My 4 year olds are interested in where they live and other states, and geography so I thought this toy would be really great. It would have been if all the states actually worked. The quality of this toy is really low, and very frustrating if you want to teach your children ALL of the United States.

I purchased this for my grandson. It is a really nice product and I think it will be very educational and fun to play with. However, one of the states did not "talk" when pushed. So now I have to go through the hassle of returning it. Hopefully the new one they send me will be without defect.

Comments about Tek Nek Talking U.S. Map Puzzle Encyclopedia Britannica:

I purchased this a week ago for my 2.5 yr. old great grandson, who kinda already knows a lot of states and thought this would be more entertaining than his normal wood puzzle. It was evidently taken back to store by someone else (didn't know it when I bought it), because DVD was not there and the plastic cover was taped on. BUT it works great and he loves it. He wants to play with it several times a day.

I thought it might be a little cheap made, but it has stood up to several plays a day. He is taught to put it back when done and we try to teach him to take care of all his toys even though that can be difficult for a 2.5 year old.

I am purchasing another one for my sister's (who is 18 years younger), 3.5 year old, for Xmas.

We've had this a year. It has held up quite well. It's a great family activity and one a child can do alone. When you put the states in it says the state, capital and motto. It even has a drawer underneath to store all peices. The statue of Liberty sings our national anthem. It gives directions, north, south, east and west. It's great. I can't say enought good things about it. We have family all over the US so it has given our child a point of reference and knowledge about where his relatives live. Great idea!

Had no issues with this at all. All the states worked, had the correct capitals, and it even teaches the pledge of allegience, directions, and America the Beautiful. Was surprised with the 90 day free trial to their website and wall poster - which even showed Seattle! Kids like playing with it since it is interactive and I can hear them quizzing each other and using the puzzle to check if they are correct. Was bigger than I thought and it even came with batteries. Would recommend!
