I'm not sure where to start with this set, so I'm just going "brain dump" with the review. First, this set isn't for the faint of heart. I'd describe the build as time-consuming and more than challenging at times. Next, the level of detail is outstanding, and who can argue with six mini-figures, a hologram, and a "mouse" droid? The set even comes with a built in carrying handle, which I cannot overstate how useful it is when moving the set for any reason. The exterior is classic Imperial gray with eight synchronized rotating turrets, and a hidden compartment for the "extra" missiles on the back of the set. Speaking of the back, there's quite a bit of detail there as well, making this set a beauty from every angle. But wait, there's more! LEGO uses a clever design to allow the entire set to fold open, exposing the entire interior, which is equally detailed. Rotating seats, a map area, a hologram stand, a weapons storage area, and more than enough room for the mini-figures are just some of the things that I love about the set. What's not to love? Grab this set when you have about 6 or 7 hours to kill over a few days, and go to work. OVERALL EXCELLENT!

As much as I love to get a new and much needed updated Star Destroyer I just don't think it brings enough to the table for people to really want to buy it . I love lego Star Wars and have grown up on it, but I just think it would be nice not to have to get the same exact sets come out every few years with only a few minor changes from previous versions. I owned the original 2006 Star Destroyer and it indeed had its flaws(no handle, unsturdy build ect,). But in this new version while the stability and handle and figures have been improved it is too much the same. I love lego and I think its great that a younger generation gets to experience the same joy we did in building these same iconic sets but the sets shouldn't be carbon copies of each other. There are usually remakes of sets every year some of these remakes have much needed improvements and I applaud the people at lego when they do make a remake that is not a carbon copy but has the same elements we loved from the original. But while there are some good play features in this set and in many of the other remakes its hard to want to buy sets that are carbon copies ones you may already own. All of this aside I really like the new Darth Vader and the rest of the figures in this set(including the small molded Emperor hologram). The build is an average build but a good average build. All in all I like this set but please lego I don't mind remakes but don't make them carbon copies of each other. Thanks for reading hope you found this helpful

Imperial Star Destroyer

By JediLegoLover

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer 75055:

Imperial Star Destroyers are probably some of the most popular ships along with TIE Fighters in the Star Wars Original Trilogy. We've had quite a few Lego incarnations of Star Destroyers, and this latest model doesn't disappoint. Although this model is more of a play model rather than a UCS type display model, it's bigger than I expected and has loads of detail. The Imperials were rather Spartan when it came to colour, they only ever used varying shades of grey, and Lego have done the same but have broken things up by using smooth plates to vary the texture and make it more visually pleasing. There are also cannons on both sides and shooters. Fans will be pleased that the shooters are green to mimic the green lasers the Imperial Star Destroyers use. A useful feature is that you can store the extra ones in a specifically designed compartment at the back. The top comes off, and the sides fold down to reveal the centre of the ship which has more detail and plenty of play features. There's rows of computers and machines that are achieved by using stickers, an Emperor Palpatine hologram, a mouse droid, a screen showing what look like blueprints of some kind, and other fun features. There's also a really handy carry handle which is very sturdy and solid, so you can move the Destroyer with ease. The minifigures are great. Included are Darth Vader complete with red lightsaber, two stormtroopers, an Imperial Officer, one Imperial Crew, and an Imperial Navy Trooper. All the minifigures are highly detailed, but I think the real draw here has to be the Emperor Palpatine hologram. The build is rather tricky at times, and uses quite a few technic parts to make the carry handle, and attaching the side panels is a little difficult and requires patience. However the build is very rewarding, very detailed and a must have for your Imperial Fleet.

    Best battle station

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer 75055:

This thing is outstanding I got it at night and refused to stop building it till I was done. But my mom made me and I dreamed about it all night, I woke up early so it was done the next day. This thing is durable, awesome, and the features like the 8 rotatable guns, opening and spring loaded shooters are amazing. The only downside is that the area before the command bridge and in the middle does not clip to anything. What I have done lately is take some snowtroopers and stormtroopers and made the Star Destroyer a dropship like thing.

    Proper size

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer 75055:

I never got mount the previous models of Imperial Star Destroyer, but from what I've seen would be larger models than this. For those who want to expose and have a lack of space this will be the ideal model . Has given much joy to build this model, once again, as with almost all models of lego, time will fly. only I regret that there is a gap underneath it to simulate the hangar. And the bridge of the same is not detailed and that to put a figure inside. Otherwise 5 stars.

One of the worst recent Original Trilogy sets

          By BCBrick16

          from Abbotsford

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer 75055:

I'm just going to say it right of the bat; this set is bad. I will say play value is somewhat there for this set, but do young children even want to play with a Star Destroyer when there are much cooler ships out there like the Millennium Falcon? By making it much more playable than it should be, Lego seems to have ruined this set. First, the size. I know that Lego can not make a minifig scale Star Destroyer, but this is just ridiculous. The star destroyer is one of the biggest ships in the galaxy, so why does Lego make it an average sized set and not Sandcrawler sized or something. I mean, this thing is around the same size as the Lego Millennium Falcon and its smaller than the new TIE Fighter. I know the new TIE is UCS, but still. That's just wrong. Why are we getting UCS size TIE Fighters and X-Wings (for the 2nd time) when their normal sizes are perfect, displayable, and to scale, but not another UCS Star Destroyer when its "normal size" as as lousy and out of scale as this. I'm no expert on the Star Destroyers from the movies, but I believe this set doesn't have the right shape. I think it needs to be in a more equilateral triangular shape. This version is much too narrow (length wise). Also, like many Lego Star Wars ships, the studs on top do detract from the overall look. However, in this set there is odd combination of studs, and flat stud-lees rectangular pieces used. In my opinion, Lego should have just chosen studs, or no studs. Since the ship opens up there a big ugly line right down the middle of the vehicle where the 2 halves meet up. The spring-loaded shooters are not only inaccurate, but very visible compared to most other sets. Its definitely an eye-sore, but they can be left out of course (but in that case, you're going to have a couple of empty slots showing; still a bit of an eye-sore). One of my biggest complaints is the fact that there is no bridge. They could have easily squeezed in room for some controls and a minifigure or 2 in the head of the ship, as they did in the 2006 version. The best angle of this set is from the back where there are 7 transparent blue engines (easy choice since the rest of the ship is grey). The inside is mostly structural support made up of Technique pieces, but Lego did incorporate 2 small sections in which to put minifigures. This is where a mouse droid and an Emperor Palpatine hologram are found, which, in my opinion, are the best elements of the set. All minifigures are new updated versions of older figures. All the Imperial officers and troopers are great. Darth Vader on the other hand, shouldn't even be here. The box art shows us the 2nd Death Star, with laser blasts flying everywhere, and Endor in the background, therefore depicting the attack on the 2nd Death Star; a battle during which Darth Vader was not in a Star Destroyer. In fact, Vader isn't even seen in a Imperial Star Destroyer throughout the entire Original Trilogy (only his Super Star Destroyer). Must just be a lousy excuse to make a new Darth Vader and boost the sales. Overall, the Imperial Star Destroyer is one of the worst Original Trilogy Lego Star Wars sets in recent memory. I think it just tried way too hard to be compact and playable, which ended up being its downfall. I wouldn't even recommend it to younger kids as there are cooler sets out there with more play value than this for less money too. Other than that, I'm quite sure that most Lego Star Wars collectors won't be happy with this set. Pros: -Emperor Palpatine hologram -mouse droid -Imperial crew Cons: -size -shape -studs -ugly line -spring-loaded shooters -no bridge -Darth Vader Overall Rating: 4/10 Lego needs to make a UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, like they did very successfully back in 2002.
