I absolutely love this play yard! The photographs don't do it justice! It is adorable, perfect for girl or boy (we are having a girl, though). I am 9 months pregnant and set this up by myself! I like to be able to do things on my own, and this wasn't difficult at all. The only time I needed my husband's assistance was when trying to snap on the toy bar. It IS pretty hard to get on, but we were able to snap it on OVER the material. The changing table is incredibly sturdy. It folds up and out of the way very easily. Also, (and this is where I don't understand some of the negative reviews), I have NO PROBLEM with the diaper/wipes tray on the end. Mine is full of diapers, wipes, creams, toys, etc...and it stays on just fine. You just have to have common sense and don't fill up one side with heavier items, and expect the diapers alone to weigh down the other side. The thing isn't screwed on, you know!

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this to anyone! The only negatives:

Toy bar is kind of hard to snap on, but once it's on, it is sturdy.

Toy bar comes out of the box pretty misshapen. You'll need to work with it a bit.

I haven't tried to take it all down and put it in the bag, BUT I can see how it might be difficult to get EVERYTHING in the bag. If I was going to take this with me on a trip, I'd just pack the basics...leave the toy bar and diaper tray either at home, or just out of the bag.

Honestly, if I can figure this out with no hassle at 9 months pregnant, all it takes is some basic common sense and to read the instructions. I searched for a long time for the perfect play yard, and could not find any more sturdy and cute than this one! Graco changing trays are horribly unstable, and I am usually a Graco fan. But in this case, I wouldn't trade my play yard!

I've had this for about 3 months and use it constantly. It looks very nice, and is very sturdy. The music box is wonderful..we actually hung it on his crib instead. The reason I'm not raving over it is because I think a few things could be improved.

1. (And this is the one that really bugs me!!) The changing station is not waterproof! It has waterproof material on it, but there is stiching all over it that isn't waterproof. If I don't get the diaper on fast enough, pee instantly seeps into all the stiching and then it is IMPOSSIBLE to clean! There is no way to access it, but you can see the stains where it soaked in! You have to lay some sort of towel or something on it or you will forever have a urine stained changing station.
2. My mattress has a BIG lump in it! I thought it would work itself out over time, but it has stayed there from day 1.
3. The toy bar is useless! It gets in the way, and it doesn't entertain the baby at all.

Comments about Summer Infant Carter'S Comfort 'N Care Playard & Changer - Safari Friends:

This play yard was a great thing when we first came home with our son. We had it set up in the living room and it was like a mini nursery. It was pretty easy to wash the washable parts which we did often as our son was a pee while your diaper's off kind of baby. No problem except the changer part didn't quite sit flat, so our son always rolled a bit to one side. Fast forward to when we don't need it as part of our everyday lives. Now we use it as it's intended...to travel and keep our son contained while we use the bathroom, shower, etc. Putting this thing up is such a pain. The stitching that held the middle legs in place has torn. The ends that should "just snap together" never do. It becomes a source of frustration similar to dealing with Christmas lights. It's a pretty product that's fine once in place but the "put it up, take it down" functionality is a huge disappointment.

We really wanted baby gear that goes with our existing decor in our home...this one was the perfect balance of cute and modern. We also do not know if we are having a boy or girl, so this one is a nice choice if that's your situation as well. Very easy to assemble. I did it myself and it took about 10 minutes. The only con so far, would be the change part was really hard to get the rods clicked it. The rest was so easy, it seems odd that this one part was so difficult...maybe a slight design flaw? Baby is not here yet, so not sure how much he or she will like it, but we love it so far:)

This set is very cute and neutral. I would test out a few other play yards first though because this one although great once it's set up, is a pain to take back apart and transport. All the parts don't fit back into the bag and the amount of time it takes to take down and put up makes me not want to make the effort. Honestly I've found that I don't really need all the accessories but that's me.

Mommy-to-be, due in less than 6 weeks. Put this together in under 30 minutes, only needing help with the bassinet and liner. Requires no tools which is a plus!

Only real "con" I have so far is that the liner insert (so the infant isn't all the way on the bottom of the play yard) slides around alot until you get the bassinet, toys, and sound box attached. Those items help keep the liner in place. Have a second person hold one end while you attach the extras and you'll be just fine.

Comments about Summer Infant Carter'S Comfort 'N Care Playard & Changer - Safari Friends:

I bought this item for my 3-month old to use in the living room when she grew out of her bassnet. the main piece is easy to open and set up. However it is those accessories that took me a very hard time to put on. For example, the clips for the toy bar are way too small that it too two men (daddy and grandpa) to snap it on. Also the bars on the changer are too tight to insert into place. We felt like either the design of the accessories is bad or the craftsmanship is not good. Also the instructions are not very helpful if you have not set up a play yard before. Anyway, I don't think this item is "portable" because there is no way I can take it down after taking so much trouble to set it up. Any by the way, it is quite heavy.

Comments about Summer Infant Carter'S Comfort 'N Care Playard & Changer - Safari Friends:

My daughter is 3.5 weeks old & we've had this set up in our living room since since before the birth. She does nap in the bassinet everyday & it seems fine. All the play yards we saw were pretty ugly and this seemed the least offensive. However, this one has several major design flaws:
            1. Changing portion is not waterproof. This would be ok if the cover was removable but it is not. Week 2 we had an explosive pee/poo and it seeped into the changer. It's now stained and won't get clean no matter what I do. Kinda gross.
            2. The diaper station thingie doesnt hook securely to the side. It is drooping and we can't put anything too heavy in it or I think it will break. We've had to put a shelf up on the wall next to the changer to old diaper creams, lotions, etc.
            3. The wipes container is pretty useless - since you can't put anything too heavy in there and it's not well designed, we don't really use it.
            4. I worry a bit about the bassinet for when she gets bigger. It doesn't seem very sturdy for a larger baby. It sways back and forth and the mattress/pad isn't supported by much.
            5. The changer is also at the worst possible height. It destroys our backs when we bend over it to change her. Needs to be higher.

I can't speak to ease of assembly or travel use, since we don't intend to use it for that. We have the arm's reach mini cosleeper in the bedroom & that's much better for nighttime and smaller/more portable for moving from room to room.

My husband and I were so excited to receive this play yard as a baby shower gift for our baby due in January. We took it out of the box and stuggled to put it together but finally did and were pleased with it, until we tried to put it back in the bag. We had a difficult time breaking it down and when we finally did, the zipper on the carrying case broke...never even used it and will be returning it asap.

Then last night i woke up to get my son and he rolled all the way to the corner cause that same side that always gives me a hard time collapsed! Thats enough to kill a baby. i think this playard is aweful and this is my second baby...and products were better when i had my first six years ago now they seem to be make them not so good anymore.
