We currently have a Baby Trend carseat and love it. Unfortunately, my Baby and I were in a car accident and need to replace it according to the state law. The car seat did its job and our baby was fine. We had it installed and certified by the CHP when we first bought it and the fire department who arrived at the scene of the accident commented on the fact that because our car seat was installed properly that our baby was not hurt. They said about 50% of the time they arrive at an accident the car seat is installed incorrectly. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the title "Everest" did not describe its color and when it arrived we realized it was brown and sage green which is not what we were expecting.

The closures in order to lock the baby into the carseat must align perfectly and then while they are being held together you can put them into the buckle to snap it closed in turn locking the straps down. Well to say the least this is very difficult to do when you have a struggling baby trying to wiggle out of it not too mention if you have a boy baby. If you do have a boy you will feel like you are squeezing his "family jewels" because in order to make it close you have to push down on this area REALLY hard to get it to snap. The base is not very adjustable either so you may have to put a blanket or towel under it to make it sit right in order to accommodate a newborn infants unstable and flexible neck. It sits upright too high. Last the straps were too short and made the fit way too tight and hard to get your babies arms in and out of the straps. Our baby is just 2 months old and we were already having tightness issues with the straps, we had to get rid of this seat before he got any older! Went with a Graco and so far so good.

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

I was so excited to get this car seat because I thought the handle would make it easier to carry but I didn't find this to be the case. I just end up carrying it hooked on my arm. Unfortunately this was just the start of many problems that we have had with the car seat and base.
Like other reviews have said the handles are really difficult to put down. We ended up putting some Wd-40 on them which seemed to help some.
The base and car seat don't work properly together. The car seat seems to be secure in the base so I haven't bothered to get new stuff. To unlatch the car seat from the base you not only have to lift up on the release but push in on the white part that locks into the base. It's such a hassle! Same goes for getting it out of the jogging stroller.
One side of the sun shade broke.
It's impossible to get the cover off to clean.
The buckles are hard to buckle. Trying to align ad over lap then buckle while your child is wiggle, remotely has a wet diaper or is wearing a coat is also IMPOSSIBLE!
My baby has been in the tenth percentile for weight since she was born but has out grown this car seat very quickly.

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

Ok so I purchased this carseat late April for my 2012 May baby. So I was in the hospital and never saw the carseat until I went home with baby, May 13th. The first few weeks it was tough. The handle wouldn't fold down but I figured since it was new maybe it would get easier...NEVER DID, sometimes I need another person to pull down one side while I do another. My babys head would flop around and I never found a head restraint that would fit besides putting a blanket by her head. Also whe I try to put it in the baby trend stroller the carseat leans forward to where my baby would almost fall forward unless she was tightly buckled. Also, when pulling the carseat out of your car it will get stuck so you might want to be ready for that. I gave up all together and just keep it in my car. Another thing, my 3month old baby is almost too big for it now!! She's 12ibs and 22'. It's pathetic. I read bad/good reviews but decided to give it a chance. Honestly never again..I have emailed baby trend and sure hope they do something about it. Never buying baby trend again (stroller is just as bad. )

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

I will start out by saying I read reviews on several sites and thought this was a good choice, bboy what a mistake that was!!! Family members bought this car seat as well as an extra base, the jogging stroller, play pen, and a walker...all baby trend...all with issues(unfortunately, I asked for thse items after doing some research and review reading). I had my baby in September 2011. He was 7 & 1/2 lbs and 21" long. The car seat head area did not support his head at all, I even rolled up a receiving blanket but due to the narrow shape of the head area, the blanket would not stay in place. You really can't put infant head inserts in it either because it doesn't fit well with the shape of the adjustable head area(there is only 6 inches across from the back of the head area before you have the angle coming out or forward for the rest of the head support area). The straps NEVER tighten up at an even level, so one side is always tighter and pulls more to one side, There is no crotch adjustment so you have just 4 & 1/2 inches from the back of the seat to where the strap comes out for the crotch, also the strap is not long enough for the crotch, so literally the fastening part ends up being right between the legs. I agree with other reviews here when they say it is a pinching hazzard. When you snap the crotch part with the shoulder straps that come down, you have to have both the left and right snug one in back of the other at the same time in order to even latch the stupid thing, all while you are trying to press little baby personal area back and inner tighs out of the way just to snap it together. This seat is narrow and doesn't work well at any age(I have had to use it in a vehicle that we had the extra base put into as our baby grew). I don't know how this seat ever made it passed R & D!! My baby is now 9 months old and 25 lbs and 30 inches long. We didn't wait very long before we had bought a Graco snugride 35 b/c my husband got tired of seeing me have a breakdown every time I had to put our son into the baby trend seat. We didn't take the baby trend seat back b/c it had been purchased 1 to 1 & 1/2 months before the baby was born and we were using it for the first month after our baby was born. The base never fit securely in my husbands leather seated truck even with anti-slip pad put down(neither LATCH or with seatbelt worked). Don't think just b/c the handle looks neat and easy to carry or just b/c the color is nice that this is a good choice. Baby Trend should be out of business with their poorly designed products.

The straps are difficult to align together then insert in to the holder. The handle is very difficult to move. Both grandparents can not adjust the handle because you have to press down on both buttons, push back then forward. My 6 month old is WAY too big for it. After looking at other seats, the seat does not sit down in to the base. Does not seem as secure. I borrowed my friend's Graco and was so much more impressed with how much better it was.

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

I bought this carseat b/c it was rated high in safety. Yes the carseat is sturdy and easy to handle, but it's not flexible when it comes to adjusting the straps. My son is only 2 months old he now weighs 14lbs, was born 9lbs 5oz and I been having difficulty with the straps since we left the hospital and forget about using the bundleme in the carseat it just makes it worse. The straps are too tight so I have to struggle to get my sons arms through them and trying to get the crotch lock aligned and secure takes work. I hate that I have to press down hard on my son's crotch to secure it. As I'm doing this my son is fussing and giving me dirty looks. Luckily his diaper keeps me from hurting his jewels. Bottom line, I don't like the carseat because of the non adjustable straps so I'm going to have to purchase a different carseat with easier to adjust straps. very annoying.

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

I first bought this expecting my son to be a big baby. My older son was huge and outgrew his in 2 months. So the price was right for the time I expected. Needless to say he was preemie and weighed 5 lbs 3 oz when he came home. When they did the carseat test at the hospital, it passed with 5 stars. (preemie babies have to have extra testing) The doctor and the nurses all told me they would recommend this type as well. We were all impressed. They baby next to us had a britax and did not score as well. My son is almost 12 months and still has room for it.

Very easy to clean. Lightweight. Easy to adjust.
Having four kids, and on the go all the time, this seat has been very handy.

I really liked the base design, and it was easy to adjust.

Fit in the middle back seat of our 2011 Honda Pilot and didn't take up to much room.

Comments about Baby Trend Flex Lock Infant Car Seat - Everest:

We bought this before we brought our now 7 month old home from the hospital. We compared safety, usability, price, and the look and feel of many carseats before choosing this one. We've loved it and our son seems to have loved it too (though he is one of those babies that loves car rides and tends to fall asleep as soon as the car starts). We've found it super easy to adjust, it's lighter than many carseats, and it's easy to get in and out of the car. The only negative I've had is moving the handle up and down. The levers you squeeze seem to be a bit cheap and you have to have the handle in a certain position and then squeeze them before it will move. But that doesn't matter that much to us. Overall we think it was a great carseat for the money.

I bought this product in 2008 for my first child and I still have a base. I am purchasing another for my second now. I loved the handle. The base and seat alone were very sturdy when installed, which was very easy. I was a nanny and had to use several different types prior to my first child and this one is by far the best. It is safe and comfortable for baby, not too hot as I used it in 100 degree plus 100% humidity summer weather for my child. This is the lightest of the seats I have used and great for the price. I look forward to using this brand again. It was easy to adjust backward when he was small so his neck was more comfortable and forward when he was older and wanted to sit up more. I never had problems with my handle release but I have strong hands although I myself am a very tiny woman and had no problems handling this product with my son until he was 20 months and I got a larger seat. I lent my last seat to a friend which is the only reason I am not using that one.
