At first I really liked this turtle. I'd turn it on for my baby when he would have trouble falling asleep after his middle of the night feedings. Then one night it started flashing really fast. We changed the batteries and it was fine. Started doing it again 2 months later, so I went to the FAQ page for this product and it seems that's a feature in the new version to let you know that the batteries are getting low. I'd rather if it just dimmed on wouldn't turn on than the crazy flashing. I've stopped using it since he really didn't need it to fall asleep, so I'd say we really only got about 5 months use out of it.

As a first time mom I was looking for a plush night light that was not bright to leave on in my son's crib for easy viewing during the night. I thought this item was great until I learned it had an automatic shut off timer that could not be adjusted. I like the item however it does not serve the purpose I wanted it for. If you need a night light with just a timer then this is fine.

My son received this as a gift from my sister for his 1st birthday. He absolutely loves it, even more so now that he is older. I have stepped on it numerous times forgetting it is laying in the floor near his crib and haven't broke it yet. Granted I didn't put my full weight on it, but enough that it would have broke a less sturdy item. It barely uses batteries. LED lights are great about that. I have turned this thing on every night for at least a year and have only had to replace the batteries once so far.

To address some of the complaints others on here seem to have with it (it really bothers me when people don't read and then come back and complain about something):

- If you bothered to read the features it plainly states that the item has a 45 minute auto shut-off feature.

- Again a stated feature, BRIGHT Blue, BRIGHT Green and SOFT Amber. The amber is supposed to be dim. :P

- I had no trouble with the screw for the battery cover. You can't jam a big screwdriver into a small screw and expect it to work. Right tool for the right job folks.

- "the blue light doesn't show up on my blue walls." :| They aren't freaking laser beams. Seriously, what do you expect?

- Maybe I'm just odd, but I thought the point of going to sleep is to rest. Why would you want this thing to display some sort of laser light show when the child is going to bed. Seems it would be counterproductive to have that as a feature.

So there is my review/rant. I would highly recommend this item for your own or a gift for another child.

My husband LOVES it! It's got three different color settings with amber being the lowest light setting. It's not 100% acturate for the astronomer in the house, but it'll due! I love that there's no cord, so we can put it anywhere. Keep batteries on hand.

My 15-month-old son gets excited if he sees a DreamLite commercial, but I think the DreamLites are cheap and ugly looking, so we got him this for Christmas instead. He got excited when he saw it in the box, more so when he saw it glowing, and even more when he saw the stars on the ceiling. He loves to push the buttons to turn it on and change the colors. We put it on his floor at night, not in his crib, for safety. My husband likes that it has real constellations, even though they are not arranged or spaced realistically.

I got this turtle for my 3.5 year old when he started getting scared at night in his bedroom. He was beginning the phase of "there are monsters in the closet", so I ordered this turtle and told him that monsters were scared of turtles and that "when the turtle moved in, the monsters moved out". I really hate telling fibs to my child but that worked like a charm. He's never mentioned them since and feels totally secure in his bedroom at night!

My granddaughter, 3, loved it from the beginning after opening it.
Lit up the various colored stars.....I think the batteries will need to be replaced often!

Love this product! Our two and four year old both have one, and adult family members have been so impressed with them that they have added a little whimsy into their lives and are now proud owners of the "Twilight Turtle" as well. Our only complaint is that it takes a very small screwdriver to open the battery case which makes it difficult for elderly family members to change out the batteries. I would have given this product a 4.9 score if I could have just because of that one issue. Our children have even thrown this against the walls when sent to their rooms and it did not affect the features. This is now our "go-to" baby gift for showers.

I really wanted to buy this for my 2yr old son for christmas. Its adorable and competititvely priced with the dream lites dolls. After reading some of the more negative reviews about the size and the amber color light being dim I was skeptical but ordered the toy anyway. I recieved it last night, opened it up to make sure it worked and found myself very content with my purchase. My 18yr old sister was over and we turned to lights off in the room to see how well the stars could be seen. It was great! The first thing my almost adult sister said was "I want one!" lol. I have a rather large living room and the stars were bright and clear so it should look even better in a bedroom. The amber color is dimmer than the green and blue, but it is the perfect brightness to fall asleep to. Im looking forward to finding all of the constellations in the next few evenings.

We actually have the twilight sea turtle, but my daughter Loves it, and has to have it on every night. I love that it turns off so the room isn't as bright when they get to deep sleep. We also own the sleep sheep and dozy dolphin from cloud b. My kids don't use them anymore for the sound, but as stuffed animals. The sound was really nice when my kids were babies though. Actually getting another twilight product for Christmas this year for my son. Love them!
