    My 9 year old was given this for Christmas. Can't complain on the whole. She's having fun with it. Noted that the kit is rated for 10 & up. The included safety goggles bear the following label "Warning: This is a toy. Does not provide protection." To top this off, they aren't even big enough to fit on my 9 year old's face. Seriously? My kid doesn't have toy eyes, folks!

        Comments about The Smithsonian Mega Science Lab:

        I got this product based on the brand name...figured it had to be good. It's very high parental involvement and many of the steps I had to do myself for safety reasons. The kids got frustrated by not being able to do independantly. The gem experiment did not turn out and the kids where very disappointed. The posters are great but need to be readable by the identified age group. Instructions are simple and well written. Would be better for young tweens.
