I was really disappointed with this toy. It's so loud! So much louder than the rest of his toys, it vibrates and screeches along with the horns and sirens, and it's very sensitive and will go off even if we are no where near the toy. My son was never very interested in playing with it and I hated hearing it so I took out the battery, since there is no off switch, and I think that makes it a better toy, let him use his imagination!

Good Toy.. Can make a lot of noise if put on a table since it does vibrate..

Also, doesn't seem to have an off switch.

And I noticed the fireman has no pants (does not affect anything, but is kinda funny)

Fireman is also a bit small, so the 18mo age is probably for kids that might put it in their mouth.

My 18 month old son wants to drive our car every time we go to it, so we decided to try out this steering wheel to distract him. He absolutely loves it! He played with it for 30 minutes straight, and his normal attention span is about 45 seconds. There are lots of buttons with different noises, and the only thing is you need to be ready to ignore all the noise it makes, esp when your child is hitting the siren button for the 30th time!

My grandmother originally bought this for my 9-month-old cousin, as he loves any toy that has a wheel he can turn. That, and she figured the police and fire-truck motif was perfect for a little boy. Not only did he love it, but my 18-month-old baby sister (who was with us in the store when we bought it) couldn't stop playing with it either! Baby Cousin loves the wheel, while Baby Sister loves the sounds and buttons. The only issue we had with it was the little fireman who sits in the firetruck in front of the steering wheel comes out and is small enough for both kids to put in their mouths; he looks so cute that we wished he was attached, but for now he's being cute on a shelf. All in all, a great buy for babies and toddlers!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We got this toy from my son's Uncle in England when he was just 1 year old (he's now 6). At that time he loved the sounds, lights and vibrations playing with it produced. As he grew older it became the controls for every pretend vehicle he created, often providing the controls for a sofa-come-airplane or a bed-come-fire-engine. We've had years of fun with this toy.
