We had a rough start, however, after watching some demonstrations on YouTube, we mastered it. Make sure to have a bowl of water with you and keep watering it down. That is the key. Be patient!! Form the clay into a ball and shape it into a pyramid. This can take up to 5 minutes. Then using the tool, insert the tool in the middle until you form a whole in the middle. Make sure the the pottery plate is turning. Don't press down on the plate too much. It will stop if you put too much pressure on it. When you can fit your thumbs in the middle, the creative process can begin.

If you touch the clay while it is on the spinning wheel, the wheel doesn't move. Basically, you end up shaping the clay with your own hands without the wheel to make a dish. I could have just bought clay for this purpose, rather than the noisy wheel that doesn't work.

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

I rarely review products, but am so disappointed in this one I had to add my two cents. My granddaughter and I expected to be able to create something. Instead, we found it to be a noisy, one-speed disaster. Directions are inadequate, tools included not very good. Do not waste your money. I would have much preferred to spend more and obtain a higher quality product to produce an item that my six-yr old granddaughter could have felt pride in creating.

        Absolute garbage

        By Melissa

        from Missouri

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

This is a pottery wheel for kids, I wasn't expecting much, but the second there is any pressure on the clay the wheel binds up and won't turn. Can't get the whole started can't build pots up or out, etc. So we have a $16 stand to make pinch pots on...
We knew to add water without the reviews or it will get dry and crumbly fast.

        Total junk!!

By Mom of a crafty kid

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

My daughter received this for Christmas and was so excited to use it. I have never been so disappointed in a product. There is not though power to turn the wheel at all. It just stops. Tried water but still couldn't get it to work. Thrown in the trash after one use. What a waste of money and time.

WATER! (The key to making this work!)

        By Momto5

        from Virginia

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

As the other reviews noted, out of the box the clay is hard to form and can't easily be manipulated on the wheel. But, if you add some water it is a whole different story. Sure, it is messy but the kids love it. We worked more water in to the clay before putting it on the wheel. Then we kept a little water bowl next to the wheel and dipped our fingers every few minutes. This made the clay easy to mold on the wheel. We'll have to see how the added water impacts drying, but its been worth the fun of making it!

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

My daughter just started taking ceramics classes and I thought she might enjoy this art at home as a Christmas gift. It is not worth the buy. Whenever pressure is applied the wheel stops spinning. The clay is also very hard and difficult to form.

            from Birmingham AL

Comments about Toys R Us 1001325 Imaginarium Junior Pottery Wheel:

This is truly junk. My 6 year old received it as a gift. Batteries cannot provide the power needed to turn the wheel while attempting to shape clay. It went straight into the trash after a few minutes when it became obvious it would never work as intended. If you buy this you will discover you have totally wasted your money.

I am an art teacher and thought this would be a fun activity to do with my daughter. I realize that this is not a professional potters wheel but it doesn't work at all. You can't even touch the clay and it makes a loud grinding sound and stops working all together. Do not buy this. It made my daughter think the real pottery wheel would be this awful and turned her off to ceramics.
