This realistic Tonka Mighty Motorized Side Loader Garbage Truck with Figure in green from Funrise Toys has all the cool features of the real thing, including a power arm for up/down motion. Sturdy Tonka construction and incredible detail are combined in one great vehicle that includes realistic lights and sound, manual features, freewheeling capabilities, and accessories.

Did you know that "Tonka" means "great" in Sioux? It's no surprise considering just how long this great, reliable brand of toy trucks has been around! In 1947, the first Tonka brand toy trucks were actually designed and manufactured by the Mound Metalcraft Company, a small garden toll manufacturer operating from a small schoolhouse basement in Minnesota. In their first year of operation, a staff of only a half dozen people produced a total of 37,000 metal trucks with two designs. This inventory sold out in just a few months as many post-World War II families quickly accepted this new toy. As a result, in 1949, the first Tonka dump truck was introduced launching the first generation of the Tonka brand's family tree. Today, the Tonka brand upholds the same premise it was found on: a toy should be durable and provide the child with as much play value possible.

Quality is just ok. Works fine for us, lift operates, our three year old can work all the parts just fine. Garbage bin, slides into an attachment on the lift, rides up and over the truck and dumps just like a real garbage truck. The back of the truck inclines manually and back hatch pops open to dump the "garbage". I have a girl that really enjoys this. We bought this instead of a few others simply because it had more details, opening doors (but they only open so far not all the way), and a figure included (he doesn't fit at all well in the front seat and once you get him in good luck removing him, very frustrating for a child, the scale seems off in the passenger compartment). We're debating returning to get something with a bigger garbage bin and that works a little better, the bin is very small, we think it should be a bit bigger to fit the scale of the truck.

Shipping was quick. Only they of course shipped me the wrong item! I order a side loader garbage truck, like the one in the picture, and was sent a top loader. After careful troubleshooting of my own, I figured out that both models have the same part number or sqew. I called to make a formal complain and that I be shipped the correct item and the customer online service lady told me that they could not control what ships, as it is shipped from various locations. Then she asked me if I needed help with anything else. When I asked again that all I want is for the correct item be shipped to me, she hung up on me. This was until being on hold for an hour! I never got a resolution. Never shop online!

The products I ordered were of good quality. The service, however was not. The first shipment contained an obviously used. And broken truck. Took several weeks of store hunting and re ordering on line. To get it. Still- the product picture shows a figure with it- none came with the truck. Representitives were. Polite, but really couldn't much to correct things quickly.

          My 3 year old son received this truck from his grandma for Christmas and it was broken within 2 weeks. The belt and trash can that ride on the side of the truck, became dislodged. Very disappointing, considering how much my son loved this toy.

          We got this truck as one of our 2yr old sons christmas gifts. he plays with it ALL the time and it's been great nothing has broken at all. And he is pretty ruff with his toys too, this is a great toy for boys that love to play with trucks.

              I bought this for my son for christmas because it was the most realistic looking garbage truck. He played with it for about an hour before the convayer belt broke. We exchanged it for another one and a few days later it broke again in the exact same place. [...] I am very disappointed. You see tonka and expect it to last forever. After the second truck broke I had my son choose a differant truck. He chose a tonka strong arm garbage truck. It is a much higher quality.

                  My son wanted this truck for Christmas, so Santa delivered! Worked OK for 3 days then the lift would not work anymore, or the sounds. We have many other Tonka motorized trucks that work great. I read the reviews, but decided to take a chance based on my previous purchases. Wish I would have listened!! Now, I am hoping that the store will take it back without the packaging. Needless to say, a real disappointment!

                  Couple complaints. The motorized "can" lifter does not work most of the time and is very tempermental. Second, the garbage man does not even fit into the cab of the truck without using a vast amount of force. If my son did not love this truck, it would have been returned.
