I bought Evenflo Classic 0-3 and 3-6 month nipples, then got them all mixed up. I searched the internet for a way to tell them apart, and the best advice I found was to test the visual flow rate of every single nipple. I tried this, but over time the 0-3 month flow rate becomes faster, so it was very difficult to distinguish between new 3-6 month and older 0-3 month nipples. So, genius that I am, I emailed Evenflo and asked them. Their response:

On the flange of the nipple will be a circle with an arrow pointing to a 1,2, 3 or 4 to indicate flow rate. 1-slow, 2-medium, 3-fast and 4 is cross cut.

It's there. It can be very difficult to see, but it's there! The numbers are arranged at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions of the circle, so my trick is that that 3 is the easiest number to distinguish and it is opposite the 1. Since I've only got slow (1) and medium (2) flow nipples in rotation, it was easy to figure out.

I have tried levels 1,2 and 3. I had a problem with all three collapsing. Both me and my baby were so frustrated I threw them out and bought a different brand of bottles.

I've bought 0-3month, 3-6month and 6+month nipples. The thickness of the nipples are all different. Some collapse and make it frustraiting for the baby to drink. Some work fine. I found there is no consistency with this brand. Other brands might cost more but are better quality.

Product works fine, but like the others said, I can not distinguish between these and my level one nipples.

It may be confusing to keep them separated, so put the slow flow nipples in a baggie and put them away. They are very similar and not well marked. Pertaining to the cereal in a bottle...not really supposed to put cereal in a baby's bottle. The whole point is to teach them to eat from a spoon and pediatricians warn against it as a choking hazard. Nipple is fine as a medium flow nipple

I love the bottles but once I got to the medium flow nipples I mixed them with the slow nipples and then realized there was no easy way to tell the difference between the nipples. I think they should differentiate them so that you can easily tell the different sizes apart even during a middle of the night feeding. Also just as an FYI these are not good to use when you start to mix cereal in the bottle because the cereal gets stuck clogging the nipple only to create an unhappy baby.
