Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

I bought this seat before my son was born last year because of the superb safety ratings and because it looked really comfortable. He was 7 pounds 5 ounces and by 2 or 3 weeks old, he was unable to use the infant head supports. There just isn't enough room in the head and shoulder area - it's too narrow. We made it work and luckily the "air" pocket things on the sides of the head served as a head support as he grew a little more. I agree with other reviewers though, this seat is heavier than most and awkward to carry because it's also longer. Even when my son was one month old, I was struggling to carry him up the sidewalk to my daughter's preschool every day (I"m 5'8", 125 pounds, not extremely petite or anything). My son put on weight quickly and by 6-1/2 months he was 19 pounds, 28 inches long and too big for this seat. The straps aren't long enough and he was so uncomfortable in the shoulder/head area - his shoulders were almost scrunched at this point, so we had to move up to a convertible seat. I still feel like it's a good seat for someone with a little more strength for carrying this thing, or someone with a preemie or babies who tend to stay small their first year. It does seem very safe, it just wasn't a good investment for us.

Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

We use this in my Mazda 3 for my 11 month old daughter. She is so comfortable in it that we have used it a few times at night to keep her head elevated. If she falls a sleep in the car, we can bring her inside and she will continue to sleep for an hour in the carseat.
The only thing I would change on this seat is to make in lighter and less awkward to carry and to have the shade have independent support on both ends.

Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

Used this seat from birth to now (my son is 11 months). When he was born he weighed 8lbs 13oz, 21 inches and fit perfectly with all the inserts that comes with the seat. Driving on bumpy roads my son wouldn't bounce and it wouldn't jerk him around...he was able to sit with his head upright and not feel a thing, VERY SECURE AND COZY! Now he weighs over 20lbs and 26 inches long and still fits great but we are looking for a new seat now.

The seat says it goes to 35-40lbs but it doesn't have the shoulder room and the seat strap does not extend long enough for a baby that size. With the weight of this seat + my son it would be too heavy to get him in and out of the car at that weight any way, so we wouldn't have a need for a carrier any longer.

This was the only seat we used for our son and I loved it...a bit heavier that others I looked at but totally worth it. All other seats we looked at just didn't compare, far as safety and comfort. The fabric is soft, all other seats we seen were rough, the only seat with side air pockets to protect the baby's head, other brands that started to imitate it were all hard and pointless. A little pricey but does come with all the inserts so you won't have to buy them separately. JUST A GREAT SEAT..I DEFIANTLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

I have used other infant carriers before with my first child. He hated them all. We then had to look again for our next one coming. Most of the new carriers say they hold more weight and longer babies. so we tried them with our 1yr old son- who is 30inches long and is wearing 2t and sometimes 3t. We were between the snug ride and this one. so we put him both just to see. they both fit him length but he has very broad shoulders and the snug ride seemed to snug. we then tried this one and it was still a bit narrow but he was smiling and had just little more room to move in the shoulders. But the fact that he was smiling for the first time in a infant carrier was the selling point for us.
We have tried it in our jogging strollers, our double sit and stand baby trend stroller and a shopping cart... it fits with all of them.
I believe it feels a little lighter than most carriers and all the ones I've owned- and that's with the base attached. It isn't so bulky in the car, which is a great thing since I already have a car seat in the car. The best feature for me is that I don't have to hold it out to the side. It is made to be held right next to you- WITH EASE. Honestly, with an infant this one is PERFECT. I don't recommend trying to carry around a 20lb child in a car seat, but to use in a car and carry the child yourself it what is should be used for when they are 20lbs or more. ( I have done that, I just don't recommend it)

Again All in all my 1yr old son approved this car seat and that is worth every thing.
    I recommend this to everyone.

Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

This car seat looks nice and is indeed comfy. I bought it when I had my son. It was supposed to hold babies up to 40pounds, but my 8month old son is 24pounds and he cant fit when he has his jacket on. The upper part where the kids rest their head is so narrow that you almost have to buy another car seat. Additionally, the belt is really short. It gets so tight that u would almost not want to belt the baby. Its not worth the price, cause it isnt functional beyond 6months!

Comments about Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - Rio Grande:

I love this car seat. We only had 9 days to prepare for our day-old adopted son. I did a lot of research before purchasing this car seat because this is an item I'll use all the time for at least a year and probably longer with future children. For the first two weeks after we got our son, we borrowed a car seat from a friend. The difference between the two car seats is night and day.

Here are a few things I like about this item.

        * It has nice padding without being frumpy or bulky.
        * Material is soft, yet easy to clean.
        * The form fitted padding around the head and body keeps a newborn in place and feeling secure and cozy.
        * It is sturdy and safe without being overly heavy.
        * The straps are easy to adjust, easy for an adult to unbuckle, and fit nicely around even the smallest infant.
        * It has an indicator to let you know if it's at the right incline so that their little head doesn't flop over because it's at too much of an incline.
        * It's easy to click in and out of the base.
        * The hood provides ample shade.
        * Fits a child up to 35 lbs. so we'll be able to use it for a long time.
        * It's super cute.

The only downside is that it is a little heavy, but still much lighter than so many of the others I have seen.
