As each piece is placed correctly in the USA map puzzle board, your child will be delighted to hear the names of the states and capitals! Forty wooden pieces help develop map and memory skills. Pictures on pieces show images associated with each state. State borders shown under pieces. This puzzle is of sturdy wooden construction and non-toxic paints and finishes.

My daughter bought first on then another for our just turned 2, he then learned to put it together without even talking he cannot say Utah it's OOtah. Now at 16 month's he is learning Capitols. I just taught him United "States. He has a hard time saying U, it is the best thing that happened after cups, playhouse and fun he wants to learn. Loves all his puzzles Melessa & Doug.

Was very excited to see that Melissa and Doug made a United States Sound Map but when I got it out of the plastic and FINALLY got the screw out (it kept sticking and wouldn't open the battery compartment) I quickly realized it wasn't reading the states. It would randomly announce a state I wasn't even touching and then it wouldn't even talk when I did put a piece in. On another note I realized it is NOT self correcting because it (if it did decide to work) would say the state name for any piece that is put there because it doesn't appear to have specific sensors. I called Toys R Us and they are going to send me a replacement, if it doesn't work I am going to try out a different one. Sorry Melissa and Doug, unfortunately I am dissapointed!

I use this product to teach my grandchildren about geography. My grandson at 4 learned his states and capital by using this toy. He now enjoys challenging others on their lessons. I like that it speaks the states and capitals for all 50 states clearly enough to be learned accurately by the child.
