We were really excited to receive this crib (as a gift from my mother, off our registry) and put it together for our expected little one. After spending time unpacking and putting about half of it together, we discovered that we were sent a defective product. One of the pre-drilled holes where we were supposed to insert a screw to connect a side was blocked by a phantom screw or nail going vertically through the opening, making it impossible to fit the necessary piece. It was obviously not like this on the other side. I can't even begin to describe my disappointment, being pregnant, of course I cried -- I was really looking forward to having the crib up before my mom comes to visit in a week. My husband spent all weekend painting the nursery so we could put this together before the weekend was over. We both work and I had to take time off for the delivery window and now we have bulky packing materials and pieces of crib all over the nursery. When we called customer service they weren't open on Sunday, so we'll have to try to find time to call from work. What a headache.

Hopefully they'll remedy this, and I'll be able to change my review. Right now all I have are beautiful pieces of wood, that due to circumstances out of my control - won't fit together.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a beautiful crib. We got it for our first son 3 years ago and it still looks great. Ours is in Rubbed Black color,not the espresso, but it's very close. They had it displayed in the store and we had to order it. There are highlights of the lighter color wood that peek through so if it gets scratched, it just blends in with the way the rest of the bed looks. The details are gorgeous (hard to see in the picture, but I believe they have it in a lighter color where you can see all the details). It is extremely sturdy. My husband has changed it into the toddler bed twice (once about 5 months ago, but our son wasn't quite ready for his "big boy" bed, so it was changed back to crib for awhile. Just changed it again to toddler bed, and it didn't take very long. The only complaint I have is that the slats got slightly dented when attaching the mobile when our son was a baby. Some of the light color shows through the black(not a big deal, since it's highlighted that way anyways)but the wood itself dented slightly.You'd think for [$] it would be more heavy duty that way, but overall the crib is very sturdy and should last until our son is ready to change it into the full size bed.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
