The tracks stopped working within 30 seconds of use; the symptoms were as follows: motor can be heard running very fast (whining) but with no drive to the tracks... This is caused by the plastic drive gears coming loose inside the gearbox. Can be repaired in around 15 mins, as follows:
1) Remove the 10 screws underneath tank;
2) Carefully but firmly separate the lower body from the top body (you may hear a nasty 'cracking' sound as the plastic separates, don't worry this is normal, as long as all the screws were removed it should not break);
3) Carefully remove the tracks from the wheels (take note how they fit to allow easy reassembly later);
4) Remove the 4 screws securing the motor/gearbox/axle assembly from the lower body;
5) Remove the gearbox/axle assembly from the body;
6) Now disassemble the gearbox by removing 3 screws;
7) Relocate the small plastic gear wheels inside the gearbox by pushing the axles gently into the correct position (this is marked by small indentations in the plastic moulding);
7) Carefully reassemble gearbox, being sure to tighten the 3 screws securely (otherwise the gears will pop out again!)
8) Refit gearbox and axles using the 4 screws.
9) Replace tracks on wheels (the tracks only fit very loosely, this is normal)
10) Reattach lower body to upper body with the 10 screws.

Bought this item for my grandson for Christmas. We were very excited and so was he when he opened it. The traction stopped working the first week and trying to find a replacement at Toys R Us is getting hard. Waiting to see if they get anymore in stock but after reading all the reviews I think a refund will be my next step. I hope they try harder at getting better quality for their exclusive items.

This product only worked well for a day or two and even now, looking back, I can see it wasn't that well. The tracks wouldn't turn sometimes, though the motor was definitely doing something in there. Husband replaced the batteries one night and the very next morning with limited play, it stopped again. Sometimes the lights and sounds work, but not always. Regretable purchase and one disappointed five year old.

I should have read the comments on this product before purchasing. It really is a piece of junk right out of the box. I ordered mine online, and when it arrived the tank was broken off the base plates that hold it to the box. The treads don't spin AT ALL, and the gun turret doesn't move.

The batteries work fine because the lights and sounds work, but nothing moves. I don't purchase a lot of motorized toys to begin with, but I at least expect them to WORK out of the box.

Bought this tank for our son and within the first couple days the tread broke. The pin just snapped and the tread came off. Our son wasn't playing rough with it either; he was just having it roll like it was supposed to. Will be exchanging for something of better quality.

I bought 2 of these, with different copyright years and battery types, because one of them was this and the other was a "Freedom Force" branded one from Target. They're enough to keep little kids who are into military entertained, but I bought them for projects. I inspected them thoroughly and found dual motors. Looks like the start of an RC project!

Bought it.Got it home and it doesn't move at all!After 15 mins of play the lights and some sounds no longer work!This was not a gift either.
My son earned and saved all his money to get this!He is only 5.

Just and FYI,

I noticed the review with the two pics at the bottom.They do NOT come with those stickers or the smaller tank sitting on top and next to the tank.That was misleading.I had to go and look it up again to see if we were also missing some of the package!My opinion though :)

Product very poor quality, tracks failed to turn out of box. Returned item; ToysRus would not honor coupon on alternate item. Called corporate and was promised gift card for inconvenience. Received call two days post indicating gift card would not be issued in accord with policy. Very frustrating experience, will never return to store!
