Nice instruments, but my almost 2 and almost 5 year old boys broke the paper on the tamborine within 2 weeks. Same for the marching drum we bought with this set. I thought these were so much nicer than the plastic sets, but now I see a reason for getting plastic. Drum sticks punched right through the paper.

The instruments were on sale 50% off so I had to buy; but even at full price they are sturdy light weight wood which was nice for my 12month and 4yr old to share.

Birthday gift for son, wish i had given it to him sooner - he loved it as soon as he opened it. all the pieces are perfectly sized for his little hands, and he even remembers to put his thumb in the tambourine hole after i showed him. i do wish i had thought to reinforce the tambourine drumhead though, but even after he broke it, i just taped it up with clear packing tape, and he's still good to go! Definitely worth the price, and i may just buy another set.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A relative got this for my daughter for her first birthday...she actually really liked making music with the instruments...we were taking a music and movement class at the time so she was able to have some of the same things she had been playing with in the class at home. Although the covering over the drum part on the tambourine did brake after she being so rough...she can still shake it...Overall I would have to say that it's reasonably priced and worth the musical learning experience.
