I'm not one to buy dolls from TRU, but every time I visited TRU I would take a stroll down the doll aisle and this doll always caught my eye and brought a smile to my face. I tried convincing my almost 5 year old daughter that she should ask Santa for this doll for Christmas, but she's a tomboy and wouldn't be caught dead carting around a doll, much less a Disney princess doll. One day while visiting the store I decided to purchase her for myself. I was hesitant at first because 1. I'm a grown adult, why do I need a doll. and 2. The price. I could think of a million other things I should be spending the money on. There was a deal going on, you got 2 free outfits with the purchase of the doll, so I figured what the heck. I rarely indulge on anything fun for myself, so I decided to treat myself to the doll. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the register, not only were the two outfits for the doll free, but she was on sale, ten dollars off. Now I couldn't pass up that deal.
When I got home, I took her carefully out of the box. The key is to take your time and be careful with Rapunzel's hair. The doll is called Tangled for a reason. I've read several reviews where people say their doll's hair was a mess right out of the box. This was not the case with mine. Probably because I took the time to carefully cut and untied the dolls hair out of the box. Her hair was a bit tangled at the ends, but nothing that couldn't be tamed. I have a wire doll brush from an American girl doll, so I gently sectioned off the doll's hair and began brushing it. I did this until the dolls hair became fluffy and I could run my fingers through it. Then, I took a squirt of leave in conditioner, rubbed it into the palms of my hands and lightly ran it though the doll's hair. The end result was a beautiful main that puts the rest of the Disney princess's to shame. I've read other reviews where some have cut the doll's hair or flat ironed it. I didn't find the need to do so. I would highly recommend purchasing a good quality wire doll brush to use with this doll. Using a regular hair brush is not a good idea, and will probably end up ruining the doll's hair.
I was not impressed with the doll's dress and shoes. To me, they could have used a better quality of material for the price. Even the free outfits that I received left a lot to be desired. I didn't open the them, but just looking at them through the box, you can tell they are not high quality like you would get on an AG or Lee Middleton doll. I might try selling the outfits to help cover the cost of the doll since I won't be using them anyway.
All in all, this is a cute doll. Cute enough to make me purchase it. I would strongly suggest not purchasing this doll for any child under the age of 6 (recommended on the box) if you don't want this doll's hair to be a huge, tangled mess. I'm actually glad my almost 5 year old didn't want the doll. I could just envision walking into my daughters bedroom with poor Rapunzel's long maine tied to the ceiling fan spinning around as her and her brother was using her as target practice with their Nerf guns. The only way I would purchase this doll for a younger child would be for the purpose of displaying it in their room. The doll is cute, the hair is beautiful, and I'm happy with my purchase.

This doll is gorgeous. My daughter didn't ask for it, but Santa thought she'd like it. And does she ever! Someone below said this wasn't a Princess and Me doll- true it doesn't have the paperwork, but it does clearly say "P&M" on the clothing and is designed to be part of the line. My only complaint about this doll (and I can't believe no one has complained about this already)- but the hair is HORRIBLE quality. It's tangled and crunchy. The poorest quality doll hair possible. WHY is it curly? OBVIOUSLY they knew that a child would want to brush it! But you can't get a comb through it to save your life! We've had it for 24 hours and is a disgusting mess. They could have easily used fine/straight hair. For a [$] doll, it's unacceptable. This is the Disney Co- I expect more. I can only give this doll 3 stars, even though it is my daughters favorite gift in her entire life.

This doll is cute and well built. However, as soon as you start playing with the doll the hair begins to get messed up and tangled. This wouldn't be a problem if it could get brushed. This doll's hair is impossible to brush and will only frustrate your child. The hair will only continue to get matted and tangled and your child doesn't want to play with it anymore.

    I bought this doll while Black Friday shopping and I love her to dickens. I wasn't going to buy her because of the price but I couldn't put her down. She's gorgeous and her hair is extremely soft. Younger kids would likely have issues with her hair due to how fine it is but older children shouldn't have any issues. This is my favorite out of all the Rapunzel dolls I own.

        This doll would be great if the hair waswn't such a mess... it tangled into a knotted mess within 1 day. I have spent hours trying to brush it every so often so she can play with it but it just makes more of a mess. Daughter asked why Santa would bring her such a "yucky" doll.

            My daughter LOVES this doll!!! We used the doll for her birthday pictures
            And the doll fit peRrrfect!!! I bought my daughter the Tangled dress and that was her whole bday theme!! Her posing with the tangled doll in the Photo Studio came out beautifully!! I really recommend this doll!! :-)

                As soon as I took this doll out of the box, I knew the hair was going to be an issue. It feels yukky - almost greasy - and it is a mess. You can't get a brush through it to try to fix it and when you try, the hair falls out. Also, they are still carrying this doll in the stores, but you can no longer get the outfits to match unless you go to online resellers who are price gouging. They were offering three free outfits/accessories with purchase, yet the resellers have just one outfit listed as high at [$] which is ridiculous. If I had known this I would never have gotten the doll and I am not entirely sure that it isn't going back due to the poor quality and lack of accessories. There are other high end dolls out there that really hold up quality wise. If that is what you are looking for or are accustomed to then this doll is not for you. Sorry, but Disney should be ashamed to put their name on this one.

                    She is very pretty and my daughter loves the doll, but it is not worth the price! I wish I had gotten her the smaller doll that she could play with more.
                    The hair is awfull!!!!! I careful took her out of the package and with in hours she was a tangled mess. I carefully brushed her hair and clumps fell out! I braided it and it still became a frizzy mess. I wish they would fix this problem!

                      She was beautiful in the box, and even more beautiful after I took her out. This doll was everything I hoped for, from the quality of the workmanship to her appearance. Of all the Rapunzel dolls I've seen, she is the most adorable. Her hair is so soft, her skin tone is very lifelike, and her eyes are beautiful. I would recommend this doll to anyone who is looking for a good companion. Shopping for her is going to be a lot of fun. I hope to find a lot of clothes for her to try out.
