This is a great set for most Lego Fans. I definitely recommend it to all who appreciate Lego. And the price is a steal. Note: In the picture it looks clobbered together and like it might fall apart. It actually holds together really well. Also it is not to be played with. It is mainly a display piece.

Great offering from the IDEAS department once again. Love the box, great mini-figs and colors. COMPLAINTS: This set really let me down in the play-ability/durability of the mech suit itself, primarily in the front shoulder area and lower legs. The pieces hardly stay together and constantly fall apart. Also the ball joints chosen aren't very strong and only really allow a few poses. IF you don't mind leaving this set alone and never touching it once its built; its one of the coolest ever. OTHERWISE, use the parts and make your own mech. Congrats to the person who designed it, I wish they woulda kept it as close to the original as possible, but from what I read the original is even more fragile.

A Must Have!

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

The Exo Suit is a phenomenal build! It's creative and original, and the attention to detail is just what you'd expect from LEGO, if not better. You can tell the designers really had some fun with this one. This is a must have for any LEGO Space collector. Shame it's being retired. If LEGO were to re-release this build in other color schemes I would absolutely buy it again.

Surprisingly Intricate Model

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

At a quick glance the Ideas Exo-Suit may seem link a basic Bionicle-inspired robot but its the details that make it stand out. The model has numerous joints which makes it infinitely pose able. The male and femail minifigs are are great fun to create a variety of play scenarios. Because of the details and many small parts I'd classify this as a an average-to-intermediate build. There is a good combination of Technic and standard Lego techniques to master in building the model. The model also comes with a really high-quality bound manual with some detail about the "Ideas" submission process and some fun fiction which sets a scene that where the suit might exist.

Not really all that excitng

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

This is a nice looking build. Kind of complicated to get finished and impossible to keep together. Fell apart several times during the build and more while trying to pose it. I had a child come over and play with is and it fell completely apart. If it weren't for the minifigs she would have lost interest in it in 2 minutes.

Amazing set, but does need tweaking

By BlacktronEnforcer

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

First off, let me tell you that this is by far my favorite set of 2014, and likely for a good 3 or 4 year prior. It is reminiscent of classic space, but with a modern feel. You can make this as a fighter, construction type bot or anything. The set is made of a ton of little parts, but overall is an easy build. Pros: Space related Green classic space guys Robot Very customizable Very sound design for basic legs/body/arms Cons: Low stability (some of the ball joints are low on clutch power) Bottoms of feet are small which causes more instability Many of the little parts fall off due to weak connections Cockpit area leaves driver exposed No articulation at the wrists I still love this set straight out of the box, but very quickly I found myself doing many modifications to it. I made the feet wider, used mixel ball joints to add wrist articulation, added a real cockpit with windshield that lowers over the driver, added various weapons, and changed many of the colors (like adding blue parts and wings for Benny). Many of the little parts tend to fall off easily, so I mostly replaced them with other options that still had a similar look. Even though I modified all my exosuits, the basic mech design is well done - it is far better and more articulate than any other mech design Lego has come up with. That being said, I feel like this was meant to be modified. I have attached only a few of my many different Exosuits I have made.

Just one of those sets...

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

You know, you get a set, and throughout the build you make this strong attachment to the model. So much so, that after you close the last page of the instruction manual, you keep going. Keep building on it, making it your own. Thinking of what missions will this mech go on? Is it a fighter? Will it work in construction? Exploration? That's what this set was to me. The way it's designed, if you have the right technic pieces you can add on just about anything to it. I upgraded mine to have a spring loaded cannon on its arm, extending barrel for small watt laser fire, upgraded foot pads, a better targeting computer and radar along with heavy armor in some places. The possibilities are endless!!! And I have to say, when you pour the pieces out at first it can seem daunting because it's a LOT of little tiny elements, while almost no actual bricks. But the build itself is rather easy, with bigger frame parts holding everything together firmly. The figures are great, Good to see the old space logo again. And the cute little turtle (who I've named Donnie, after my favorite turtle) is very fun and pose able, and I remember making a bunch of them when I got the Lego Adventure book years ago. Not to mention, one of my favorite Lego designers, Mark Stafford helped complete the design before release. :) The only downside is the figure itself is a little off balance, the weight seems to center a little towards the rear, so it can just fall over for no reason. Nothing a few hoppers and some 2x6 plates won't fix though. Also, some of the little extras, like the generators, antenna and the computers that cover the shoulder joint are very fragile and can fall off very easily, only because they're only attached by either a small hook or on one stud. Other than that, GET IT ASAP BEFORE IT RETIRES!!! If not for THIS mech, then for your OWN mech, as I'm sure it's entirely possible to make something completely different from the pieces contained in the box.

Another Great Idea Set!

By RAgarner

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

As with every set from the Ideas line I enjoyed the build. The set itself makes a great display piece and I am seriously considering buying another two or three before the sets disappear from shelves. As someone who grew up with the 80's space sets I am glad to see the return of the figs from that series.

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

This was a very interesting set to build, mainly because of the many small parts.I quite enjoyed it, but felt that it was not very true to Peter Reids original model(like the barrel arms and bionicle pieces.) here are the pros and cons: Pros -lots of obscure pieces -awesome robo turtle -very posable -cool minifigs Cons: -extremely fragile -a little dumbed down from the original

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

This was the first set that I have bought for myself in a very long time. One of the deciding factors was the "Old Style" space suites that will go great with my sets from the early 80's. I had a blast building it last night while my boys built and played with their new sets.

Comments about LEGO Exo Suit Building Toy Set 231 Pieces - 21109:

Loved this kit. It is far past time Lego brought back some of the Classic Space designs and updated them. Would love to see Futuron and Blacktron back in the mix. More Benny, and all of his space dwelling friends please.
