I bought this when my daughter turned one. I don't think that she can fully understand everything but she has taken in a lot. She loves the songs and even knows how to sign and dance to them. When she watches the video she'll begin to motion the song right before it begins because she remembers where it is in the video. Everyone is surprised that she knows how to dance to "if your happy and you know it clap your hands ect . . ." at 14 months, even if you change lines around she still dances its correctly telling me that she learned this from the video. My daughter is 19 months now and doesn't talk a lot they say some babies are like that and when they start talking it'll be in full form while others talk a little at a time. But I know that she knows everything I say. I can tell her to get anything and she'll look around and get it for me even as early as 15 months. I do believe that these videos do help.

I know they say that your baby can read early on and if you stick the whole program then maybe your babe can. But to be honest as busy as I am I didn't stick to the whole program as I liked but I do believe that my daughter has got a lot out of it and if she is going to be watching some TV I'd rather it be something learning like this. I agree with the man who made this most learning shows pictures and some word. Where this program focus on the word more and then a little on the picture so kids can put it together and remembers the word and how it sounds like and not just what it looks like. I always recommend these each video is only 20 mins a day twice a day that's not hard. She watches it while I cook dinner and in the car. I'm not expecting my child to be supppper smart but an edge early on may help her is great. Even my doctor says she's smarter than most babies she sees. Plus we also teaching her sign language which is another great idea. I'm not expecting her to sign fully at a young age its more of opening their minds to learning and my daughter can do it and remembers it. After the first 10 words to learn the others are real easy to learn and remember for her. Every time she sees an animal on TV that she knows the sign for she makes it.

So I'm sorry about what the other person said but I don't believe there is anything wrong with starting your child off early in things. You want them to know more and be greater than we are so why not start earlier. Its not like its really hard and boring and what's the worst going to happen, your child learns a couple of fun songs and a hand full of words. =) doesn't sound bad to me. Plus disc 1 is not childish or too babish that I can restart the program and she still wont be bored. Hopes this helps sorry so long.

I purchased this for my child who was 16 months old. He learned from it for sure. He could do the flash cards without any problem. He loved the DVD's. The problem is that as he aged, he found the DVD's and flashcards boring, and would walk out of the room while I was trying to get him interested. These DVD's are very boring to an older child. Needless to say, once the DVD's and flashcards stopped, he forgot everything that he had learned.

Comments about Your Baby Can LLC Your Baby Can Read! DVD Set:

This is a great program. I started doing this five days a week while I was watching my grandson. You have to be diligent by doing it everyday. I started when he was nine months old. By the time he was 15 months and before he could even talk he was handing me the cards I asked for. Now at 22 months he can speak and is handing me the cards & telling me what they say. This program really works. My grandson can read about 50 words now. The people that say it doesn't work are the ones that are not putting in enough time with their children on a daily basis.

My wife and I have been using the "your baby can read" when our first daughter was about six months old, I was told that the program was nothing but a memory game, but by the time my daughter was one year old, she was reading everything she could find to read, many of which was not a part of the program. Today, I am proud and happy to report that the program has help both my now two year old and my almost one year old daughters to read. IT IS NOT A MEMORY GAME, it is an excellent educational program that has been helping millions of family across the globe.

Comments about Your Baby Can LLC Your Baby Can Read! DVD Set:

I can't say enough great things about "Your Baby Can Read" !!! We bought this for our son when he was just a few months old. I didn't start it with him until about 2 weeks after he turned 2 years old...mainly because I was true skeptic! I know it sounds silly but I didn't want to be disappointed when it didn't work lol. The only thing I am disappointed in is I didn't start it when we first bought it! Within a week he was already reading about 10 words and within 2-3 weeks he knew almost every word that came with it. He's 3 1/2 now and he LOVES to read! When I ask him if he wants me to read him a story, a lot of times he tells me "No Mommy! I read it!". This program has been awesome! I think it has helped him to learn to sound out words on his own...and he has been doing that since about 6 months after he started using this program. He has an easy time learning to spell new words. It helped with his confidence because of all this. I just love "Your Baby Can Read"! If you're on the fence on weather you're going to buy it or not, quit hesitating and get it! Would I recommend this to a friend?? YES! Friends, strangers...I tell everyone about this program!

I started using the program when my child was 4 months old. I used it every day. At 6 months old, he could identify the parts of his body when asked verbally. At 11 months old, he could respond to the flash cards. At 20 months old, he could read anything. Amazing product. I am so glad I bought this and used it.

I do the flash cards only once a day(sometimes every other day) for about 10 minutes at most & after 1 month was in shock when they were reading the words before I even got the chance to say & slide out the picture..it really works! they love the flash cards so much they scream for it everytime they see them(i have to hide them in the closet)..wish they made more DVD videos to the collection..amazing product!!!

This product seems so great when you think about it. Sitting your child in front of a tv to have so much information go through them just so they can read and spell words way beyond when they are supposed to be. But think about it. How much good is that doing in the long run. I too thought "wow" how cool it would be if my child could read before kindergarten. But now I have one in first and and K and they are learning with the other children. Not sitting bored in a classroom because they already know everything the teacher is teaching them. They know how good it feels to have succeeded because they didn't know how to read or spell that word and they struggled and now they got a 100 on a spelling test or can read a word without thinking about it but it took alot to get it. They also know what it's like to fail at something and how disappointing it is but to try harder and then the feeling of success again. Which in turn will carry on into their adulthood. Having your child read and write beyond any normal child in they're age group could possibly do more harm then good. Yes for you it might feel rewarding but think about the future and where that child will be once they start school. If children were supposed to be reading at the age of two then why aren't they teaching them in Daycare (or wherever they go) Instead of letting them play with blocks.
