The Terrible Tobacco Tale is a board game specifically designed to be a key element in a concerted effort to prevent young people from starting to use tobacco, both smoking and smokeless tobacco. Players focus on the extreme dangers of tobacco use and learn many carefully researched facts about tobacco, including the deadly diseases that it causes. The game also emphasizes the physical attractiveness issues associated with using tobacco such as bad breath, discolored teeth and reduction of athletic ability, in addition to health dangers. The post-game discussion, outlined in the teacher's booklet, links the game with real life and helps players to further internalize their conclusions.
