took me 13 hours but i have do these before ... its light weight junkie Chinese cedar but that's what your going to get from china NOT a oz. of quality control... main swing beam had a crack in it around 5 feet long that you could slide a quarter in it. screws heads not punch out you will need to go and buy extras, was short 130 1 1/4 screws that they gave me 2 1/2 instead. this is just typical quality you will get when [...] is involved. The retailers buy it cheap and sell high to make the big bucks and not carrying about the quality buy $150 sell $999. it would be good if it was a $300 set the big deal is the one swing is right next to the up rights of A tower about 10 inches from hitting it so expect old kids to get hurtBut in the end the kids will love it and looks good

first of all it is too hot here in arizona to think and we bought this to "save" it until october to build but my husband was so excited we built it immediately (it was 4pm). against his will we followed other's reviews and did a full inventory first (took a solid hour). separating each wood by number and piled up in order in our kitchen actually! next we assembled the two towers on the porch to insure they were level. they are not heavy to carry to the final destination if you just do the first two steps. then to be honest i was over it ( no patience) but he continued for an hour... next day was his day off and he put 11 hours in. everything but the swing arm was done and the slat walls. next day the set was completed in just 3 hours! it took my averagely crafty husband 20 hours total and he did it alone. i, of course, was the runner... collecting the hardware and lumber needed for each step. but all construction was him. it seemed a bit creaky and unstable at first but once fully completed it is very sturdy and well made! as long as you follow the instructions you will be fine. we skipped forward a bit since some parts made more sense to us to do out of order but all in all the only modification we made was on the spacing of the vertical slats for the "walls" to fit perfectly we made them 3" instead of 2 3/4". my kids are boy 5, girl 4, baby girl 1. they love it! the belt swings are on the longest link and the perfect height for them. they think the glider is the coolest thing ever! the bridge is narrow for us adults but perfect for them. the swing install was better for us than anything we had done as a family in a long time. the swing arm appeared short at first but all the kids swinging on it are not going to hit eachother. i feel the negative reviews are from people that problem would give their own lives 1 star! we are super happy the swing set was a brilliant price, idea, and chioce! only advice: do inventory piles of wood so you can grab each step at once with ease, we could have cut our install time in half had we had one more helper with their own drill! lots of screws! but al in all it is managable by 1 building adult and 1 helping adult. Take your time and enjoy the teambuilding experience the joy of your children is the best reward ever!

After looking at A LOT of play sets we bought the Sequoia because we thought that there would be fewer fights for the slide since there are two of them and Toys R' Us was having a special when you bought the play set you got The Mayfield Cottage "free." Our problems first started when we opened the boxes to discover the directions were missing from BOTH the play set and Cottage. [...] Once we got the direction we realized it was going to be too complicated for just me and my husband so we paid a professional play set installer to put it together (yes there are people out there that do nothing but install play sets!) & he was well worth the money I might add. After it was together, I was VERY disappointed in the quality of this product. The wood is low grade cedar, the swings are positioned to close together, the monkey bars are to low and we are already having an issue with the wood splitting in half on the stairs. I definitely would NOT recommend this product to anyone. If could offer one piece of advise, be sure you can actually see a sample of the set already assembled BEFORE you buy it... I wish we could have.P.S. As for the "FREE" Cottage, my husband and I did put that together ourselves, sort of. I say sort of because it took six weeks before we had a free weekend to assemble it and I didn't have time to inventory the parts right away. You see if you are missing parts' you only have 30 days to let the manufacture know otherwise you're out of luck and of course we were missing screws and there were a few pieces that were put together incorrectly from the manufacture. Live and learn I guess.

This set was bought for a 5 year old and a 2 year old. Both enjoy it so much that they dont want to go to the park anymore. Even the kids in the neighborhood want to come over all the time. I switched the screws out with deck screws, not that there was a problem just my preference. As for the sturdiness I'm 230lbs and was able to walk from one tower to the other on the bridge without any problems. This is well worth the money for the amount of fun the kids get.

After much researching over the past several months my husband and I decided to purchase the Sequoia for our twins third birthday party. It was a large purchase for us, but it was well worth it. We put it up ourselves. It took my father, my husband and myself about 8 hours to put it together. One of my other friends who had introduced this swing set to me told me it took her family 2 days to finish, so she had advised me to spend an hour or two just doing an inventory of the parts. It shortened the installation time by a whole day! After sorting everything out (wood and hardware) it made it pretty easy to put together. The swing set is now up in our yard. It's big, beautiful, strong and sturdy. The quality is good as far as all the main supports. They are solid pieces holding the towers up. The swing beam and pieces that hold it up are also solid pieces of wood. The duel 10 foot slides are great too. It's a great feature to have because my twins always race down the slides and they never get tired of it. The best part of the Sequoia was that it helped us entertain over 20 children during the birthday party!

I read the reviews and took some advice from the other consumers. The most important thing is to read the manual and not turn the page until you understand every phase.I also seperated all the hardware and put them in baggies labeled for each phase, I seperated the wood and marked the phase number on them with chalk. I spent two hours doing these things the night before. The next day I started building @ 7:30am and finished the entire thing by 3:30 pm, The best part was I did it with no help. The manual was right on the money and This set is unbeliveably Sturdy!! My son loves this thing ,and for the price it was the Deal of the century!! Dont over think it, Follow the manual.

This swingset was purchased as a gift for our twin 4 year old daughters! They love it! It's got everything. It looks amazing not to mention the dual slides are so much fun! My girls love racing on the slides and playing on the bridge. The picnic table is great for when they get tired and need a drink/snack. The especially love the glider swing. The monkey bars are cool for they then get a little taller. The installation took about 6 hours. [...]We are so happy with it and you get so much for a great price! We highly recommend it!

Very time consuming to assemble, even by professionals. Concerned about stability, particularly around the beam(s) that move when multiple kids are swinging, especially in unison. Wood quality questionable. Kids love it because it's got alot of features, and its undoubtedly aesthetically beautiful product; however, at best I'd be 'on the fence' in recommending this product. Very suspicious of long-term durability.
