Great "toy"

My oldest son received this as a Christmas gift when he was almost 4. He loved it from the start and would keep his interest for at least an hour. Everytime I gave him a new book, he couldn't wait to "read" with his pen.

After almost 9 months we had problems with the camera, and I contacted LF support. After trying other other solutions, they sent a BRAND NEW PEN to us. I was so happy with their prompt responses, I will stay loyal to the Leapfrog products.

I highly suggest getting the 32MB as we have almost filled up the pen with books and probably will by Christmas this year. Some of the 4-6yr books are too easy for my son so it won't hold his attention as long, but others are a bit of a challenge which I like. I guess it's just a bit of trial and error for finding age/knowledge appropriate books.

Overall, big thanks to Leapfrog for giving us a great selection of books and making it fun for our kids to learn!

I bought this for my son's upcoming birthday. I decided to download all the audio before his birthday that way it would work straight out of the box and so glad I did. I downloaded the first book onto the pen just fine but as I tried to download the second book the program became unresponsive, then it said the pen needed an update. I did all that and it then said there was a problem and it had to erase everything off the pen. Ok fine so after it "fixes" the problem I again try to download the book but now the reader won't even connect. I uninstalled and re installed the computer software but it still will not work. It would have been a great product had it worked right, unfortunately after messing with it for days with no luck I'm tired of wasting my time so it's got to go back.

    I got this for my 3 year old son because he started to ask questions about spelling and to sound out words. So I figured he was ready to learn to read. This item was on sale, so it was completely out of stock in the store. Luckily the staff checked on the availability at other stores and found it was available online. She placed the order for me in the store and I received it within 5 days (free shipping too). I was expecting the plain green tag pen, but actually got the "Toy Story" one, which was a great bonus. The package also came with a "Toy Story" activity book along with the starter book (another plus). I liked that the pen was "preloaded" with the starter book, but I didn't realize we had to "upload" the Toy Story book until my son tried to do the activities. Installation of the program was easy, but it did take a few minutes to understand how to "upload" books to the pen. Overall, this is a great learning tool for my son and I have seen some improvements in his reading skills =). I plan to invest in more Tag books.

    I use the TAG Reading system with my 3 and 4 year old grandchildren. They do need assistance and supervision. If left alone, they tend to press the pages too hard and could rip the page. I think once they hit 5 years of age they can handle the "pen" or Tag with ease. Still a great system for learning.

    This is very educational product. But, my 3 year old daughter losses interest in this fast. She only uses it for five minutes at a time. When it requires downloading the books to the pen it only allows you to download a few at a time. Well, this part is a huge down fall for the fact that I am not going to keep deleting books off there to make room for more. I just don't have the time to do that. I feel like this product needs more memory. I am disappointed in this product for that reason. This is one of those products I like but I also hate. Don't know if I can really recommend this to anyone with an enteric child.
