Nice overall space saving design. Simple and yet would be effective, yet the power requirements are to use 6 - 1.5 volt AA batteries and NOT the rechargeable 1.2V alternatives. If you purchase higher MAh rechargeable batteries, you get a little more power to satisfy. The volume is not very high/loud when all of the way up. Most important drawback---it DOES NOT come with the DC 9V power cord for over $80.00!?!? Really? If the box says DC 9Volt power, with a jack hole, then it should come with the appropriate cord to supply the power, if you don't have batteries! The foot pedals have no hinges...hit the pedals too hard and they could snap, rendering them useless.

We bought this for our 6 year old for Xmas. The sound isnt very loud but for us that wasnt a problem for us. One of the pedals stopped working right away. He played it for a few days and now has lost interest. Ok product but not worth the money.

I bought this for my 3 year old. And it is great, AS A TOY. The highest volume setting is still very low and the various drum sets advertised sound almost the same.

I am not sure which older child would have enjoyed this. My son loves it, and it is not too loud for our house but don't expect much more from it.

Imagine our disppointment when an expensive gift from Santa stopped working properly after only one use! The kids played with it once with the volumne turned up and ever since it hisses loudly and cannot be quieted.
The other reviews are all positive, but we are stuck with this. Of course Santa does not have a packing slip or box to return it and this was her only gift!

Our almost 8 year old daughter has been begging for drums. I was just not up for the "real deal". This set is perfect: easily fits on a table top, has a volume control, lots of options, and wasn't $400! This fit the bill perfectly and she is happy as can be.
