I purchased the "best" Ameda personal breastpump available. My daughter did not latch on, so I used the pump everyday. I loved that it has the built-in barrier that keeps milk out of the pump tubing. I liked how portable it was. I also liked that it could be plugged in or that you could use batteries for on-the-go pumping. The not so great part about it, this is the second pump that has broke within the week. There is a small o-ring belt that drives the motor. In both my pumps the o-ring belt has broke, thus leaving me with a worthless pump. I would not recommend this pump to anyone. I am highly dissatisfied with both the product and their customer service. My next breastpump will be a Medela.

I received this product as a gift after eyeing the Medela pumps. I received it just after my son's birth so I didn't really want the hassle of returning/exchanging so I kept it. I used this pump to pump multiple times a day once I went back to work full time when my son was 3.5 months. He self-weaned at nine months but I was determined to keep him on breast milk until at least a year so I began pumping full time when he was nine months. At one point during my full time pumping I thought my pump was breaking and called the customer service. They overnighted me another pump no questions asked. When I got the new one I realized I had been mistaken and I called them to tell them and they insisted that I keep the replacement pump to be on the safe side. This pump was a workhorse and the customer service I received from the complany was top notch. I highly recommend Ameda to anyone looking to pump!

My mother-in-law bought this for me as a gift because I figured it would be better to have it just in case I could not breastfeed... which was good because my baby would not latch because I have inverted nipples. I hated that I could not breast feed because I wanted that "bond" and it would be easier, but having this pump really helped!

I really liked using this pump. It is the only one I have ever used, but now that I am pregnant again, I am already looking forward to being able to use it again.

I love the bag and the cooler that comes with it. It made my first trip to the zoo (when my child was 3 weeks old) very easy to be able to do my business when needed and I did not have to worry about storing the milk and keeping it cool. I could just put the small cooler in the pump bag! This pump also made it very easy to return to work and be able to pump (I was weaning myself off at that time) and did not have to worry about people wondering what was "in my bag" because it looked like a tote/purse.

This appeared to be a great pump when I first got it. I had been renting an Ameda pump from the hospital, so since I had had some many of the extra pieces, I figured I would just stick with the brand. Well, I ordered it at the beginning of January, started using it exclusively towards the end of January, and just the other day, it just DIED while I was at work!!!! Thank goodness it came with a manual pump, but that was just a pain! I took both my husband and I the whole afternoon on the phone to figure out how the replacement plan with ToysRUs worked, and finally found another one at the store that evening!! So, I am now on pump #2, and we will see how long this one lasts. If this dies, I will definitely buy another brand even with already having so much of the additional equipment!

The positive reviews and all-included accessories is what led me to purchase this pump. It just didn't work and to make matters worse I didn't open it until months after I bought it! Most importantly, there is no let-down phase or enough power to efficiently pump any milk!!!! Second, it's too noisy. It rattled and jingled (like a little bell) everytime is sucked in and out. Third, the holder on top of the pump is useless! The wells are not deep enough and the bottles fall over all the time whether they are there or on a flat surface. On a postivie note, the set included a flange size that worked for me and the cooler worked perfectly when I stored water and the freezer packs in it. In frustration (and pain) I purchased a Medela Swing. I love it! Luckily I purchased the replacement plan for the Ameda and I will be going back to purchase I double Medela! My advice: buy a pump with great power and stimulation phase. I know it's practically impossible to do because breast pumps are hygenic products and cannot be returned once opened so get the BRU replacement plan if nothing else for piece of mind. Oh, and if you have to, purchase the accessories separate.

I have a 3 year old and a now 9 month old, both girls whom I have pumped exclusively as breastfeeding didn't work out. I pumped for a year with my first with two single electric Medela pumps! I was to stubborn to spend all that money to get one of the nice double ones. So when I became pregnant with our second I told my husband we would be spending the money for one of the nice double ones. =) I looooooooved my Medela even though they were singles I never had any problems with them at all. One of them I purchased new when I had my daughter and the other was actually one my mom had from 2 years before when she had my little brother. So as of now the one is 3 years old almost 4 and the other is 5 or 6 years old and still work perfectly. I originally wanted to new Medela Freestyle but after reading and reading lots of reviews there was lots being said of how wonderful the Ameda Purely Yours pump was. I also liked the fact that milk could not spill back into the tubing of the Ameda like it can on the Medelas causing bacteria or mold issues. So I finally decided to try it out and have been disappointed ever since! I have been using this Ameda Purely Yours for 9 months now and last night during my nightly pump the machine seized up and completely stopped working. This is just the tip of the iceberg though when it comes to this pump!!! Not only is it a pain in the rear to clean all the ridiculous parts I also had to replace the white valves multiple times to try and help get some of the suction back. I also replaced the silicone diaphragms twice to see if this would help as well and it did not. The suction has gotten worse and worse over time and I have to pull the top adapter caps off multiple times to regain suction during a session. I have found that I have to assist the machine by squeezing my breasts other wise it will not fully drain them and I end up with a clogged ducts and my breasts become very sore or I start to lose my supply. I never had to work so hard to pump with my first and I was using two single pumps not a nice deluxe double!! Don't waist your money on this product!!!

I spent several months reading reviews before I decided which breast pump to purchase. I chose this pump, because I heard it was easier to clean and that was definitely a selling point for me. I bought it several months before my due date when it was on sale. Because I read so many complaints about the motor burning out, I decided to get the protection plan. Thank God I did that! My son was born 5 1/2 weeks ago. I started using it (pumping one side only) a few times per day only three weeks ago to relieve an overactive letdown and to freeze/store a little breast milk. Because my son decided to stop nursing, I have been pumping exclusively for the past week and a half, but only 7-8 times per day. My pump just stopped working today. It just stopped! I am so glad that I have the product replacement plan from ToysRUs so I can go get a new pump tonight(a different brand) and get back to pumping. You know... there is a REASON this pump includes a manual pump. It's a crummy product if there are THAT many complaints about it burning out.

I belong to a mommy group on facebook where I asked for recommendations on what pump to purchase a number of people suggested this one so I went with it and I hated it! It's very difficult to hold on your breasts and turn the dials to adjust the settings throughout your session. The suction got worse and worse over time, I actually blame this pump for why I didn't make it a full year breast feeding... I would constantly have to pop the tops off and snap them back into place to get the suction back during pumping. They don't sell nipples that go on their bottles so you always have to put your milk in something else to feed. The lids are two parts each and for no reason so it's just extra little parts to keep track of and clean... I even ordered all new tubing and flanges and everything at one point and it still did not improve. The samll white valves would always lose seal and sometimes even fall down into the bottle. It was just a mess and very dissapointing for the cost! I would say get the Medela!

I researched pumps thoroughly and decided to go with the ameda over the medela bc it was a closed system. Boy do I regret it. This is the second time my pump has broke. Ameda sent me a new one the first time (and I'm expecting they'll do it again) but this doesn't help me when I'm at work and have to hand express my milk during my 30 minute lunch break bc the pump is broken. I am extremely disapointed in this product and would not reccomend it to anyone. Go with medela my friends all got that one and didn't have any problems at all.

I spent ALOT of time reading reviews on breast pumps and chose this one over a Medela mostly because I read that milk could back up into the tubes on a Medela and grow mold and the Ameda was a closed system and I felt that it would be a healthier choice. I am kicking myself every day now! My little guy did not take to breast feeding at all so I decided to strictly pump milk for him. This pump has the worst suction ever. We called to complain and though the customer service people were very nice, it took 4 days for the replacement pump to arrive and the suction on the second pump was worse than the first pump. Nothing can fix the damage it did to my milk supply. We are now giving formula to my little guy and I am so disappointed! If you really have your heart set on breast feeding BUY A MEDELA!!!!
