I was given these by the hospital with my first baby and these are by far the best gel pads out there. Not only are they soothing, but you do not have to wash before nursing your baby. They last about 5 days with regular use/care. Remember to throw them out when they turn cloudy and save the plastic sheets to store them in. I kept mine in the fridge when not in use and it was wonderful to have them cold and ready to go when baby was done. Consider getting 2 pair to rotate. You can also use a little Lansinoh, rub it onto the pad and chill, then put it on. Overall, these are essential for all nursing mommies.

My doula picked these up for me a few days after we got home from the hospital. I was very sore and we thought this could help ease the pain a little. I was super excited and maybe I just wanted more relief then they offered.. but I wasn't completely impressed.
When I first applied them, they felt amazing!! They were cool and almost immediately gave me a bit of relief. After about 10 minutes, I went back to having just as much discomfort. I read the instructions so I am pretty sure I applied them correctly, although the error could also possibly be my own..??
Dust, lint, etc. kept sticking to them as well. Sort of annoying because even when cleaned with warm water (as stated in instructions) they really didn't get clean. I'm not a clean freak or anything, but I stopped using them after 3 attemps beacuse they looked gross.

My friend bought me a few of these as part of a basket she made before I had my baby. I had no idea how painful my nipples would be after breastfeeding. I tried these and it was instant cool relief. I'm able to wear them instead of breastpads for a little while. The only downside is that they're a bit pricey for only being able to be used a few times if that. You can't rinse them after a use, which is inconvienent if you've leaked. And if you wear them out and about and you need to breastfeed you need to be able to clean off your breast once you take them off before feeding.

During those first few weeks of breastfeeding these little puppies sure come in handy for your sore nipples. Really only need a set of one though. I bought 3 sets and am returning two because by the time I would have needed the others I was feeling much better.

These (and similar products from other brands) were recommended to me by several moms for helping ease the pain in my first few weeks of breastfeeding. I chose Ameda because they can be used longer than other comparable products for about the same price (6 days vs 24 hours). They deliver what they promise - cool relief and an optimal environment for sore, cracked nipples to heal. If cool is what you like, then this product is great. However, if you suffer from vasospasm/Reynaud's, cool may be the opposite of what you want. These helped me heal, but also left me with the chills, and a different kind of pain. Great product, but not for me.

I bought a similar product that I thought I loved. Then I tried these and switched. The biggest advantage I found was that they keep your nipples dry, which helped me heal more quickly. They also soothed like they're supposed to, especially after a few minutes in the refrigerator.

These are the bomb. I had very badly cracked nipples nursing my son and these are the only things that let them heal and also give instant relief. They're kind of expensive but I only had to buy one pair because I had a few samples from my sons pediatrician and our lactation consulatant. As a mother who felt very strongly about being able to breast feed successfully but found it much more difficult than expected (reduced to tears at times from the pain), these were essential.

My son had trouble latching and had his tongue clipped. It turned out he has a high pallet and a tight upper lip as well and I fed him until I had cuts that were open and raw. I tried everything. I even called the doctor for a prescription but nothing helped. These things work if you keep them on half the day and dry out part of the day. I continued to pump which kept opening the sores but these cleared the sores up in 3 days (I struggled for 3 weeks with them using other things). The lanai nil ones are not the same and didn't work!

Worked the first time I wore them! After a week of feeding a tiny newborn whose latch was not quite perfect I had sore, bruised, dry and cracked nipples. I wore these Ameda pads for 2 hours after a feeding and the next time he latched on I was surprised at how much less it hurt. Within 3 days I felt completely better. I kept wearing these periodically until about 2.5 weeks post delivery when the baby's latch became better. Bonus is the way they prevent your nipples from rubbing against your bra and clothing.
