My 5 and 11 year olds both use this, but it can get frustrating. Takes some finesse to get the pieces in place at times. I agree with the other review saying this is a decent thing to bring on car rides, but so far it hasn't held anyone's attention for long. Best use so far has been setting up my own patterns on it and having my 5 year old complete the pattern. She likes that. One major concern, we've been using this about 6 days and the plexiglass front is already pretty scuffed up just from normal use of the magnetic pen...and my kids are very gentle with it. I can't imagine what it will look like in a month or two. Also, be prepared to lose the magnetic pen. It detaches WAY to easily. I'd buy it again considering it was on sale (buy 1 M&D item, get one half off)...but not as easy to use/sturdy as I'd like.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like this product. The kids not only match the patterens, but use their imaginations by creating their own. It also is a great item to take with you for long car rides...no mess. OR to take along with you when your child has to be patient and wait while you shop. It works for us and I hope it will work for you.

Just got this for christmas, for my 4 year old. She does'nt seem very interested and has difficulty getting the beads to fall in the correct circle. I myself have difficulty doing this. Maybe with time and practice she will become more interested. So far she hasn't even spent 5 minutes on it.
