Product Description

CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Control your LEGO models with this remote control! Add a LEGO Power Functions IR Receiver, battery box and motors to your LEGO creations, and then use this handy remote control to operate the speed!

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together." The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

Lego Power Functions Train Parts

By Mompicksuplegoagain

from St. Thomas

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

We ordered this for our son for Christmas this year, with a set of tracks, as well as the other necessary parts to retrofit the Hogwarts Express into a motorized train. He loves it, and totally enjoyed rebuilding the train. I would recommend this for anyone with a Lego loving child that has bins of half-built Lego sets...it gave new life to something he wasn't really interested in anymore. We are also VERY impressed with the speed that our order was delivered.

Good additon to Train Horizon Express

By FredFerreira84

from Albufeira

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

It's well built and reliable, just still looks it has ancient technology so Lego could think of getting new motorised systems for the future. I works fine but still on batteries. The Horizon Express train CREATOR EXPERT SET doesn't come with power functions included so had to buy it. I found it too expensive, you could have made a Pack set for this and all other equipment with the train above mentioned.

Awesome remote. A little tricky to learn but after that, it is very easy to use. Good for trains, technic, and all things power function.

RC time!

By PowerMinerMaster

from Logan

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

Not only is this remote control good for trains, but it is also useful for RC cars, as well. This remote makes the steering more realistic, and it feels comfortable to hold. It's time to push the pedal to the metal with the the RC Speed Remote Control! Let us all hope that LEGO continues with Power Functions.

Excellent

By Wildchicken13

from Northbrook

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

This is an excellent LEGO product. It is small and doesn't weigh much. It operates on four different channels, allowing you to control four models at once from the same controller. The two dials allow you to control two different functions on each channel, such as two motors, or a motor and lights. Each dial has seven settings, allowing you to control the strength of the function at seven intervals. As long as nothing is obscuring the blue thing on top of the controller or receiver, the signal is perfect. At thirteen dollars, it is an excellent value for the money.

Good remote

By wuzzerz

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

I love this remote. It has 7 speeds and 8 channels. It can make your train go backwards or forward. The only bad thing is that it only controls the train properly when it is close to the IR receiver. Otherwise, a great buy!

IR Remote Control

By Quack

from London

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

Quite good for motors, but pathetic for lights!!! They hardly dim! Quite precise. I found it a bit expensive, considering you have to buy lots of other stuff to go with it.

Controls Your Lego Models Like Nothing Before

By kriskec

from Burbank

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

I bought the IR Speed Remote Control with an IR Receiver and worked out pretty good with each other. I like that fact that you can control up to 4 things at once on it and that you can easily control the speed of the motors steady or fast or really slow. It's cool that you can hook up stuff to the sides and the knob's. The really good feature that it has is a stop button on each channel. Also it uses battery power really well because it only uses it when the buttons or sensors are moved. Excellent Product, Makes Building Lego Power Functions Excellent.

A Must Have for any Lego Train Buyer

By Turner

from Lindon, UT

Comments about LEGO Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879):

With this remote, you can control 4 Emerald Night trains, or 8 Passenger Train or Cargo Trains. In other words, you can run four trains with both lights and motor action, or eight trains with only motor power. It uses the battery power very efficiently, too, only using it when you turn the knobs. (I've had a remote for 8 months so far with the same batteries in it) Because of this feature, there isn't an on/off switch. Great price, too. It greatly enhances the play experience of the Emerald Night, or maybe a custom train of yours.
