As most mothers say, I also spent many hours researching carseats. After working in a pediatric rehab hospital and helping many children injured from car accidents, I was very concerned about safety when it came to my own child. Any parent who's had a child injured would tell you they would pay any amount of money to have their child healed; the price of the Britax was not a concern for me. My crossover vehicle has 2 captain's chairs in the second row, therefore I had a big concern for side impact safety, considering I could not place the carseat in the center of the vehicle. The Britax had side impact cushioning & steel bar construction. My second main concern was following the new AAP recomendations of rear facing until age two. I have a larger sized child & needed a carseat that would comply with the weight/size guidelines to remain rear facing for an extra year. The Britax Advocate is a convertible carseat and was the perfect solution. The size, bulk & weight of the seat isn't a concern as I don't move the seat to other vehicles. Though even if I had
to move the seat, the safety factor far outweighs any bulk or weight factors of the
seat. My only issue, & why it didn't get 5 stars, is with the straps, they do twist rather easily & can be a
struggle with an impatient toddler. The Velcro helps very little with keeping the straps out of the way; a great idea, it just seems as if the Velcro needed to be positioned higher. Also, as others have said, the click & safe indicator clicks way too early. Using common sense and double checking the fit on the thighs, chest & shoulders is a must. Overall I love the seat & will buy Britax again in the future.

I love this car seat! It is bulky but my childs safety is what I am looking out for. They sold me when I read that the seat absorbed 50% of the energy from a side impact! This car seat was also reccomended by my daughters pediatrician. It is totally worth it to spend the extra money when it is your childs safety on the line! I most definitley reccomend this seat....it is a tank!

This seat is FANTASTIC!!! My son is almost 4 months old and would scream every time i put him in his infant car seat. So i decided i had to do something. Orderd this seat and in love with it. He fell asleep first time in the car!! i have a tahoe and have more then enough room with car seat rear facing.. Doesnt come near hitting front seats at all!! Love it Love it!!!

I bought this carseat for my daughter when she was 13 months old and have owned it for several months. She is average size not big not extraordinarily small.

*I cannot speak for how it fits other size children, but I can say that it has been extremely easy to adjust as she grows. No problem at all.
*I cannot recall owning another convertible seat that has been so easy to use. We have used this carseat in our SUV and sedan and it has worked fine in each one. We have an older Alpha Omega seat from my other child we use in whatever vehicle this one is not in and this one fits significantly better. It hasn't dug into the leather like that one has either.
*It is also extremely easy to move from car to car-and we do a lot. It is on the heavy side but I do not see this as a fault; in fact I think it adds to it's appeal. Reinforced steel bars-can't feel bad about that!
* LATCH on this seat is easy to use. I also owned a BabyTrend FlexLoc carrier before this one and found it just as easy. Locks right into place-then you tighten. The clicks are helpful, but as with all seats you must use your brain and instructions to tell if it's tight enough.
*I use the top tether and have found that as long as you find a good strong place (manual will give you instructions on finding a good place) it is easy.
*My baby seems to find the seat comfortable and we live where it gets extremely hot in the summer and fairly cold in the winter. It is VERY PLUSH. You can choose to take out the extra padding during the summer to make it cooler, but it is nice when it's winter.
*I've never had the straps twist and we drive LOTS.
*Buckling is easy, but the button to release is hard enough that it would be difficult for a child to release himself. GOOD.
*I like the soft pads around the straps that help keep the straps from digging into the baby's shoulders esp in the summer when they are more likely to wear light clothing.

I would suggest having you carseat professionally installed initially. After that it is a piece of cake to install and move.

*****It is easy to clean and doesn't seem to stain. I've washed the padding several times and it is just as plush and new looking as the moment I took it out of the box.

I feel that my baby is SAFE in this seat-and peace of mind is worth a lot. She is cuccooned nicely in the seat with lots of support. No she can't see out the windows really well with the head wings as she is still rear facing but....I think it's an ok trade-off.

I've not seen another seat that would trade this one for.

This is a great product! It was recommended to me by a colleague and I am very grateful. My son is 6 months and he grew out of his old car seat, so I needed something for a growing boy that was sturdy but comfortable, and this fit the bill. I have a Prius, and it fits fine in the back seat. You still have room for 1 person, or 1 child and 1 adult in the back seat even after the car seat is installed. I like the fact that it is soft, comfortable, and I do not have to worry about my son be safe, because this car seat is like a tank :-)

This is a great product overall. The seat (even though sufficiently reclined) is still a little too upright for my 15 month old. She sort of slumps in the seat and doesn't look super comfortable. She is tall for her age (in the 98th percentile) so I don't think size is necessarily an issue with regard to the "slumping". I just can't figure out what it would be. Suggestions are welcomed! Anyone debating this purchase, definitely do it. The quality is remarkable and it is definitely worth every penny. However, I did not buy it from this particular retailer. I bought it at a competitor who let me use their frequently provided 20% coupon. ;)

Ok, I know a lot of people think they can't justify spending $300+ on a car seat... BUT can you really put a price on your child's safety? Wouldn't you feel a trillion times better knowing that your child is as safe as they can possibly be in the car? This seat definitely makes me feel better knowing that my baby is protected.

The reason why I called this seat a tank is because it is huge! It's like a safe car seat cocoon. We have a 6 month old, so he's rear facing, and will be until he's 2+ years old. Fortunately we have a Nissan Armada so we don't have to worry about the seat fitting, but if you have a smaller car- it might be a tight fit. Especially rear facing. The seat is also pretty heavy too. I guess all their seats are pretty heavy and sturdy because we also bought 2 Parkway SGL boosters for our 2 oldest and they are very sturdy and solid too. Which can only be a good thing!

My husband said installing the seat was fairly simple. He's really good at reading manuals though (and I am NOT haha). He said that once it was installed, that the seat was extremely secure and wasn't going anywhere.

The cowmooflage print is so adorable. My son couldn't stop running his hands over it. Now, the white in the print isn't stark white. It's kind of like a cream because it has little skinny streaks of brownish tan throughout it. The material is soft and my son looks so cozy in it.

I really have nothing negative to say about this seat. I hope I never have to find out how well it holds up in a crash, but as for now I have the peace of mind knowing my child is safe and protected.

*In the picture we didn't adjust the head support wings yet so that's why they are kind of high. But they do go lower and that's how we have it now in our SUV.
