The Graco Smart Seat All-in-One Car Seat – Jessica offers long-lasting use and convenience. The all-in-one car seat fits a child from 5 to 100 pounds and features a convenient stay-in-car base. Both the car seat and base are reinforced with steel for strength and durability. A 5-point no-rethread harness keeps your little one secure with EPS energy-absorbing foam. An integrated harness storage compartment contains the harness straps while they are not in use, and the flip-up armrests make it easier for your child to get in and out of the car. For parents' ease of use, the head rest height can be adjusted with 1 hand to 6 different positions. For your child's safety, the Smart Seat has been side impact tested and SafeSeat Engineered.

For rear- or forward-facing use

The Smart Seat is designed for use as a rear-facing harness for children weighing from 5 to 40 pounds and supports children weighing from 20 to 65 pounds in the forward facing position in the harness. The all-in-one seat can also be used as a belt-positioning booster for kids weighing 30 to 100 pounds once you remove the Smart Base™ , stay-in car base .


Rigorously crash tested

In addition to meeting or exceeding all applicable US safety standards, the Smart Seat has been side-impact tested for occupant retention with the built-in harness system and with the standard vehicle harness system when the seat is in booster mode. The seat and base are reinforced with steel for secure protection.

Just bought this car seat today after weeks of researching convertible car seats to keep my 18 month old rear-facing longer.

TO ANYONE SECOND GUESSING THIS SEAT, I did to! hundreds of reviews that said "HUGE, BULKY, DOESN'T FIT CAR, HARD TO INSTALL, HEAVY, HEAVY, AND MORE HEAVY" Ignore them! If you are here for the same reason I am (for my child's safety) then you need to buy this seat! I contemplated between this and another brand but I have never strayed from Graco products and now I know for sure I never will.

The base makes it SUPER easy to install.. even easier than an infant car seat base! It is heavy (33 pounds) but it is equipped with steel rods so of course it will be! And because it's heavy once it's installed, IT NEVER BUDGES! And this was a major plus to me since my Graco Comfort sport car seat moved a ton (not at belt path but on back of seat I even had mine checked by a car seat specialist!!). Not to mention how hard these seats are to install CORRECTLY. And as many other parents were complaining it didn't fit their cars, I was to terrified it wouldn't fit my Ford Taurus, and yet it is a perfect fit did not even have to move my front seats one bit!

Don't think twice about buying this seat! Two thumbs up for Graco, you guys have done it.

After much research we purchased the Graco Smart Seat instead of another leading name brand. We liked the concept of only having to buy a second base for a 2nd car, and it seemed very comfortable and sturdy. The base installed fairly easily with the LATCH system, and was very easy to tighten. After always battling a looose infant seat base, this base was rock solid. The seat itself is quite bulky/heavy, but we figured that was due to the steel frame, which seemed to make it a very safe seat to be in.

We used it for a week, and ultimately ended up exchanging it for the other name brand seat we had originally looked at in the store.

The cons:
*We do not move it between cars daily, but the few times we did move it, the weight and bulkiness of it made it challenging to get it in and out of a small car. We felt it would be easier to actually just move an entire, regular seat that had an easier latch system, than to struggle getting this out/in to its base.
*The straps kept twisting under my daughter, or the snap buckles would get caught underneath her after she was placed in the seat.
*The shoulder harness pads were super bulky, kept coming off, and generally looked uncomfortable for my child.
*I never felt like I could get the straps tight enough - possibly due to the bulky shoulder pads.
*Due to it being a more reclined seat when rear faced, even at its least recline setting, the passenger front seat had to be pushed all the way forward in our Ford Focus. In our Ford Expedition it was better, but it still pushed the passenger seat a lot more forward than the infant carrier had done. Considering an Expedition is a very large car, we were not happy about the space the Graco took up, even in that monster car!
*The base is very wide, so I was unable to install this seat, alongside a Graco Snugride, using the latch system in either car. Maybe you can, but I could not get it to work.
*NOT FAA APPROVED

Pros:
*Child had a lot more leg room in this seat compared to other convertible seats. She is around 27" and had several inches to go before her feet would hit the seat rear facing. In other seats, her feet were already touching the seat.
*The cup holder was a nice feature to keep a toy or lovey blanket in.
*Seemed very sturdy due to frame.
*Could be used as a booster up to 100lbs.

Bottom line for us: The dealbreaker for us was we could not bring it on a plane when she gets older and needs her own seat. We travel at least a couple times a year on a plane, so that would be a future issue. Also, when we installed another carseat behind the passenger seat in the car, and saw I could literally move back my seat 3-4inches with a different carseat, we knew we had to return the Smart Seat. It is a great concept, but in reality, I know I would have dreaded moving it in/out of my car on a regular basis, and that was the main reason we bought it.

We love this car seat! We bought this for our daughter who hated her infant car seat and had reflux. Car rides were torture. After much research, I decided this was our best bet. I only wanted to purchase one car seat, not three. It was pricey but not more than getting 3 different seats over the years. My husband installed this in my Toyota Tundra crew cab in minutes and it fits nicely. Seat is bulky and heavy but sturdy ! plenty of cushions and I love the ease of adjustment for reclining and growth. Patience is a must the first time washing cushions but for the most part it is not too difficult. Our daughter loves being able to see out the windows and look around and after putting her in this seat she was much more comfortable and did not scream. We will be purchasing another Smart Seat for our newborn son and I will also be getting one for my oldest daughter's new baby.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased this carseat to keep my growing baby rear-facing for a bit longer (for safety reasons). She is now 18 months old and still fits quite nicely in the rear facing position. At first I was a bit unsure if it would fit in my car due to the size. It is a bit larger than my other carseats. I have owned several carseats (different name brands), and this one far exceeds my expectations! I purchased an additional base, and found it easy enough (despite the bulkiness) to move to the other vehicle. If you are looking for a sturdy/safe carseat that allows for a longer rear-facing position, this is the one to buy. I have no regrets on this purchase, and would purchase another if needed.

We absolutely love this car seat. It grows with your child and can be a rear facing seat as well as forward facing. We just bought a second Smart Seat for our other vehicle. The only complaint I have about this car seat is that it is a bit heavy if you have to move it from car to car otherwise it is great! We have it in two different patterns...the more gender neutral color and we just bought the Jessica (flower pattern) for our daughter and the pattern and fabric is awesome. You won't be disappointed!

I LOVE< LOVE this carseat. Makes me feel relieved knowing my baby is secure. Quality Material, very cushiony for baby to be comfortable, design is beautiful. Now beware it is bulky/heavy and will take up quite a bit of space when in rear seating position. So make sure there is enough room in your car. I have an extended cab pick up and I had to move the front passengers seat up a bit.

    We just purchased this seat for my 21 month old. We needed to replace her infant seat and I wanted to continue having her rear facing. I just installed the base and it was incredibly easy to get a tight snug installation. I did it all myself and I'm 5'2 120lbs. Putting the seat on the base couldn't have been easier and there are three different settings for recline position. When we're ready to switch to forward facing we just un-click the seat from the base and turn it around. There's no re-threading for forward facing or even for the harness straps as she gets bigger. There's lots of cushion for comfort. This will be the last seat we'll need to purchase. Its no heavier than any other convertible seat.

      We have been using this seat for almost a year now and I absolutely love it! It is sturdy, comfortable, made of high quality materials, and very easy to install and switch from rear-facing to forward-facing. The seat is never hot in the summer because of the type of fabric and is never freezing in the winter (I live in northern indiana). I drive a Hyundai elantra and am 5'10" and while rear facing I did have to move it behind the passenger seat because I could not fit to drive, forward-facing I have my seat almost all the way back and drive comfortably. Only con, to wash the cover is out of control ridiculous. The first time I took it off I literally had to rip a few strings and had to walk away I was getting so frustrated. Second time was easier but I used a hook and latch tool to put it back together. I am buying a second one for my daughter.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      Bought this item for my 8 month old daughter. I bought this item because of its safety and versatility. We wanted something that could grow with our daughter. I also liked that a second base could be purchased, so we are able to transfer from one car to the other. The base is easy to install with the LATCH system.
