I take pics in the dark and its the best buy for its money..The more IR lights added the better it works..The sound is a bit off but works ok. I add a recorder works even better..good too download its well worth the money..

It does not work for me at all. It does not see in the dark even with a high powered IR illuminator. I tried to return it for a refund and Toys-R-Us said I would have to return it to the manufacture for a refund. Overall I'm extremely dissatisfied. Poor quality product for[$] and awful customer service. If it is their policy I understand that, but the manager was very rude to me.

I'd say not so bad for a kid if they can figure out the settings which it took me a long time,the night vision once you find it really stinks,you have to get so close to your subject to see it/them you'd prob break a nose,then it's not great.it takes all right daytime movie for a kid but the still pic quality is real bad.I was really disappointed but decided to give to my child (10)instead of the hassle of sending it back.

The buttons take a little getting used to, but I figured it out and it works ok! The audio is horrible, but it is intended for visual evidence, so I'm trying to overlook it! You only get about 4 feet of range (they claim 15!). And yes, with this and any other 'night vision' equipment, you will need additional IR lighting to enhance the area you want to cover.... BUT, I am having a horrible time trying to find the IR light!!! Anyone have any helpful sites or info?? and the cheaper the better! ;) Good lil camera tho for the $$....does the job (visually speaking)

I too got this to use for paranormal investigations. I didn't expect too much because this is a toy, but the quality is pretty good. Extra illumination is neccessary (even inside), however the same is true with even the 3 or 4 hundred dollar cameras. Overall it is a good buy for the cost.

My kids that are into recording in the dark been having a great time with camcorder. It great camcorder, but it only can focus about 15 feet, you need an additional light to make it brighter to record images at a longer distance. The camcorder is easy to use and any one with little computer knowledge will have no problem using it. You can record in color during the day too.
