if you are using this with a gun that requires batteries, of course the darts won't sound very loud; you're operating a gun with a high-speed motor, which drowns out the sound. combine that with the doppler effect, and you obviously won't hear what these babies can do. i use them with the little guns that operate via air, so i can hear the whole of the effect. so can my cat, and she loves to chase the dart when i shoot it across the room...

They are darts. they are durable and do whistle but not that loud. make sure u use these darts for the right guns because they dont work with some.

Thought these would be a fun addition to our Nerf gun set. Disappointed that the whistle is very quiet and doesn't sound most of the time. Will stick with the regular suction darts that come with the set we bought.

Personally, the whistle darts are my favorite, and who wouldn't want to get FREE ammo with a new gun? I don't usually go to Toys R Us mostly because it's so far away, but with a deal like this i praticly jumped into the car!
