I have three boys (7, 4, and 2 1/2) The two older boys received hand held games for christmas and we were looking for one for the 2 1/2 year old because he always wants to do what his big brothers are doing. We have had leapsters in the past which he was interested in, but the games were too advanced for his age and coordination. The Fisher Price iXl is perfect!!!! He can do everything on his own if he wants to and is able to navigate through the touch screen options easily since there are only 6 activity choices. The actual games are a little advanced for him, but he is happy to try to play them, and probably within the year, he will be able to answer the questions accurately. He loves the drawing, music, and story activities. The ixl comes with one set of these and then each game that you purchase also has multiple activities. Game system is durable, we drop it all the time, the downloads are easy to do, and you do not have to keep track of a cartridge to play games. I couldn't be happier! The only thing less than ideal is that the carrying case (you have to buy this separate) zipper is a little stiff and he often needs help to open this. Regarding Battery consumption (I read a lot of complaints about this when doing my research), I have been happy with it. We have had the iXL for two weeks and played it every day several times a day and just now had to change batteries for the first time. I dont think I can expect more than that from this type of game. I love it and would buy it again!

It is ok, but rather cheap for the [$] I spent on it. I also think the silver is a litte much. It was also pretty thin, and I am not sure how much protection will be made. It is also hard to zip, even for a parent!

My mother bought one of these for my daughter for her 3rd birthday last year, we were a little skeptical about her being able to figure out all the different games and such. Within a month of getting the iXL, my daughter was a pro at it and is completely in love with it, she plays it every day, ALL day! She plays it so much, that my now 2 1/2 year old son wanted one. So grandma went out and bought him one!!! He plays it all day also. This is a wonderful toy and it has so many different things for kids to play and learn with.

Difficult for an adult to unzip let alone a child. Would have preferred another color choice beyond silver.

The case is big and buylky- double the thickness that it needs to be. The lid has room for the computer cords, which is convenient for storage, but when I hand this over to my daughter to play with, I don't want her to have the cord!!! The cord is stored in our office so the toy flops around in the case. Not happy with this at all!!!!

This case is great for my daughter. She is 3 and likes to take her iXL on car trips and this case provides me with some relief knowing that if she drops it, it will be protected somewhat. My only wish is that it came in other colors like the iXL so we could have gotten a pink one to match. [...] But does what it is supposed to do.

The iXL case works pretty well, does have the space to keep the USB cord, sort of. The case itself is not rigid or hard, but rather kind of squishy, with the iXL in there it obviously gets more rigid, but without it in there I need to get it away from my son because it is easy to totally squish flat, though it went back to its shape pretty good. A little pricey for just a squishy case.
