These diapers are great, no leaks or smells.
I prefere snaps to velcro...after about two months the velcro is shot on all and i had to replace it. My snaps have held up to multiple kids using them.
Ive had no stains at all, and havnt had issues with buildup. I wash with rockin green in hot, then do two wash cycles in hot again with no soap as a rinse and my diapers look like new, even though they have been worn and washed hundreds of times.
My babies also have never once had a diaper rash with cloth.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love these diapers! Use the thicker inserts that come with them and they won't leak as long as you change them before they get too full. I love that you can adjust the fit with the snaps. The velcro (aplix / hook and loop) fasteners are a bit easier to deal with during diaper changes than the ones with fastening snaps which are also available, but I hear the snaps last longer. But if your baby wails through diaper time, every extra second is agonizing, so in that case I would suggest the velcro fasteners instead (they still have snaps for adjusting the fit).
You can also adjust the length (and therefore the fit) of the larger inserts with the attached snaps.
The diaper is bulky compared to disposables, but less bulk than some other cloth diapers out there.
The material that is against baby's skin is very soft and seems to be very comfortable. I haven't had them long so I can't say whether or not they are durable. I have already stained them though. But that's because I only wash them in hot (no cold rinse first) because it's just too many quarters for me (yes, I am a cloth diapering apartment dweller with a communal laundry room!)
