Tried several other basic carriers including a bjorn and an ergo knockoff to save cost and nothing compares to this. Sometimes you just get what you pay for and this is it. Other carriers were too complicated with many extra straps that didn't lend extra support or didn't even fit the baby comfortably to the point he would scream. The ergo is simple and truly ergonomic like it promises. I can mow my rather large lawn with baby in tow in the ergo and barely notice he's there after two hours. I haven't tried them all but I've tried most and this is simply the best and well worth the added cost. Also like the sleeping hood and light, breathable fabric to keep you snd baby cool. Highly recommend springing for the performance infant insert too. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased the Ergo for my daughter when she was about 3 months old, and at that time I attempted to use it with the infant insert that Ergo sells (which I borrowed from a friend). She absolutely hated it. We tried it several times and couldn't make it work. So I gave the infant insert back to my friend and put the Ergo away for a month.
When my daughter was 4.5 months, I got the Ergo back out and tried again (the Ergo site says most babies are ready for it without the infant insert between 4 and 5 months). She took to it immediately and we have used it ever since. It is wonderful for when I am shopping or simply out walking. She seems comfortable and loves to look around, chew on the side straps, and sometimes naps. And I am comfortable as well, although the front carry position does begin to hurt my back after a while. Once she is 6 months, I will try putting her in the back carry which I have heard is better on the parent's back for longer carrying. My husband has used the Ergo as well and has enjoyed it.

I thought the preformance was going to work out for me but I was not too happy with it. The straps are much thinner (less padded) then the original and the "mesh" fabric wasn't very soft on my shoulders. I ended up returning it and getting an original organic ergo and I am very happy with that one!

this product works great! our 7.4 lb newborn baby loves to be carried in this carrier. its lightweight and breathable for both mom and baby. Please remember to purchase the infant insert before using this with your newborn.

All the wonderful functionality of the original Ergo Baby but lighter and more breathable fabric, is an absolute win! I don't know why anyone would waste money on another brand of carrier that only allows a front carry.

As soon as my son could hold up his head on his own he did great in the ergo without an insert. I take it with me to the grocery store, [...], farmers market in addition to hiking. He's happy and I'm happy!

I had a very sick infant, who could not be put down. After much research and a few suggestions from friends, I ordered this Ergo. The quality is wonderful, the green color - not so much. It is like a bright puke green. It is very easy to put the baby on your own. Strap around the waist, put one arm through, tuck baby in, put other arm through, click behind shoulds and you are off!My son was 9 pds, 21.5 inches when we started using it. I am 5ft 10inches and had DD nursing breasts. We just never really fit well in it. I bought the insert, but returned it b/c there was just no room for him to be in that and buckled in. I have NO IDEA how some of these moms said they brestfeed in it!! If you are over a size 14, the waist will be a tight fit. The fit is comfy, and I could wear it for a while before my back hurt. (Any carrier will eventually make your back ache!) My son fell asleep right away in it. It was great for running errands. I loved that he was snuggled up in there tight and random people couldn't come up and just reach out and touch him. (Why do people insist on touching young babies with no immune systems?? Anyway...)For the first month it was a LIFE SAVER!However, once he started to grow (he is 3 mos and 13 pounds - big baby) he just didn't fit. His legs were too short to put out to the side, and too big to leave tucked in. He would get deep red imprints on his legs from the fabric. It is also a very well built carrier, which means thick padding, which makes it very hot in the summer. We live in WI, and our summers rarely go over mid-80's. He would be a sweaty mess after 10 minutes outside. Caution if you live in a warmer climate.So, he is about three months, and here is the big problem, this carrier only allows kids to face inward. At this stage, all infants want to do is look around and stare out into the world. Instead, his only view is his face smashed into my chest. Not so fun. Along with that, if you are larger chested, this creates a problem that his face sometimes gets smooshed into your chest and I worry that he can't breath. This would be fixed if they made longer straps. So, with all that being said, this product doesn't really work for us anymore. And, at [$] I would hope to get more than 2 months use out of it. Don't get me wrong, this is really well made, and for smaller people with smaller babies, it is probably perfect! But, for the rest of the world, I'd suggest something else. I am going to return it and look at the Baby Bjorns that allow babies to face both in and out.Oh, P.S. the sun screen that folds out to cover the baby's head is a nice feature while outside. BUT even better if you have a cranky baby that you can't put down, and you need to eat. Just pull it over the baby's head and it prevents crumbs and such falling on the baby.

The carrier is a little big and the fabric scratches the skin on the sholders. My daughter did not like beeing in it at all couse of the fabric.

I ordered the green performance model because it says that it is lightweight, keeps the baby cooler and has wicking system, etc...well, I just received it and it looks great but it has a black hood! Black will attract the sun and heat to baby's head and if you are out walking or hiking this is not a good thing. I am afraid the hood will actually cause the baby to be too hot. I emailed ERGO to see what color hood the gray version of this has. Unfortunately, I will be returning.

Have tried A LOT of different baby carriers before I settled On the ergo. I love it as does my husband. Its good aroungouse-house- she sleeps great init if shes having a fussy day. Much easier than stroller for plane travel. Must buy infant insert for use early. Insert is great.
