Pohatu was the first Toa I bought back in 2001 and it was the first one I bought in 2015. Overall this is a good set. I'm glad to see the return of the the gear function to move the arms. LEGO has vastly improved this mechanic by adding more friction into the joints so the figures can be posed without the arms immediately falling down. Also, I approve of the use of the Character and Creature Building System (CCBS) since it allows for customization using parts from Hero Factory. There are two main cons with this set. The first is how easily the mask falls off. I know the idea is that the mask comes off and the skull spider attaches, however the mask tends to fall off whenever you are trying t pose the figure. The second con is the exposed ball pieces behind the chest armor. I think they make the model look a little unfinished. In order to fix this I recommend purchasing the Protector of Stone along with this set. By arranging some armor pieces and borrowing from the Protector you can cover up these exposed ball pieces and make a more complete looking combined model (See pictures below). Pros: - Action function - improved poseability - Mask is a nice updated version that references the original - Nice color scheme - Uses CCBS Cons: - mask easily falls off - exposed ball pieces behind chest plate (can fix with Protector of Stone set, see pictures) - has one less piece that the Protector of Stone (66 vs 67) Bottom Line: A strong return to Bionicle. After building this I am looking forward to the other Toa.

Bionicle's return was strong, and just a giant creative jump for LEGO, the stuff I've always wanted to see from LEGO. The other sets are unique, armored, and powerful-looking. And while I really like this set, especially for what it is, the creativity is just lacking. First of all, he's much shorter than the others (I have all six), he's pretty weak-looking, and under-armored. The weapons I believe really suit him I believe and the new style and color-scheme works. But the overall look of the set is poor. Also, I've checked the piece counts. The Protector of Jungle has 70, the Protector of Water has 71, and the Protector of Stone has 73! This set only has 66! Even if you take out the six studs from the gun on the Protector of Stone it'still 67, barely more than this set. It is seriously overpriced, it's just disappointing all around, nice job LEGO. So as an overall review, the feel of it is cool, and he's fun to play with, but as the other sets have come, this one is just so sadly disappointing. Design-wise and price-wise. I hope the designers can step it up on this one, especially, in the future.

AWESOME Purchase!!!

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

At first, I wasn't sure whether or not to get any of the new BIONICLE sets. But, after rebuilding some of my old BIONICLEs, watching the old movies, and re-reading the books, I decided I had to give it a shot. My favorite character is Pohatu, so I found him and bought him. Believe me, I was not disappointed. He looked great after assembly. After buying him, I now want Kopaka, Protector of Ice, and Skull Scorpio!!! Although the toa now have Hero Factory pieces, they still look really cool. Pros: Looks awesome Stormerangs are flexible and look great Gear function is much easier to pose than the 2001 version Color scheme looks cool Jeterangs fit nicely under his feet Looks great with brown, gold, or Skull Spider mask Skull Spider comes with tail (Only one other set has this!) Mask pop-off function Cons: Mask is NOT sturdy So, as you can see, I think that LEGO did a great job with the BIONICLE re-release. I'm still not sure about the exposed ball joints, but they don't bother me much. Many pros, only one con. Hopefully the others are the same way. Thank you for reading!!!

pretty good,but........

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

I have been a huge fan of Bionicle since it's Ignika days, and was very excited to see that Lego was rebooting it.However, it wasn't nearly as good as before. My main complaint was that they changed how the masks attach, meaning that they are not compatible with Hero Factory and earlier Bionicle sets. I did like that they were very posable and solved a problem from the Mata days, the swinging arm that wouldn't stay put..I have bought Pohatu and am planning to buy several others. all in all, kudos to the lego group for making these sets.

The Short End of the Stick

By Jetraydude

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

Like in the past, I think Pohatu has received the short end of the stick in terms of how cool the Toa are. The stick just happens to be a lot longer than it used to be. This set is good, but it's my least favorite out of the 6 Toa for 2015. Pohatu's boomerangs are cool, but the pins holding them together fall out easily if you want to detach them from the feet. I also think this set has too much silver and the translucent neon green is an odd choice for an accent color. The mask also has a slightly defective mold; the clips holding it together are actually different from the other sets, making the Mask of Stone wobble around more than any other mask. If you are a completionist, definitely buy this set. If you want a good set, you may want to look at Gali and Lewa; they're set at the same price and are more entertaining.

Pohatu Returns!!

By Matt96theLegoMan

from Lincoln University

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

Ok, so let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE Bionicle fan, and have been collecting them for years, and I am super excited that they have returned! With that in mind I want to add that I do have some mixed reviews on the return of Bionicle, though. So here are my pros and cons of Pohatu, my first 2015 Bionicle. (Keep in mind that these are my personal opinions) :) Pros: -Really cool armor -Cool colors -Still looks a lot like the old Pohatu -Cool golden mask -Super pose-able -Really cool new weapons -Cool spider mask -Cool new gear system -Overall looks awesome! Cons: -Mask falls off very easily -Very small compared to other Bionicles (See my pictures) -A little pricey - Weird design with exposed ball pieces on chest guard Overall, though, I like Pohatu! I think he looks really cool, and I also recommend buying him!

Pohatu Is Back, and Better Than Ever!

By MangoTango24

from Pittsburgh

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

I was shopping for the new Lego Bionicle sets when I came across this guy in the store. He was the last one, so I took him in a flash. The picture on the box was awesome, and Pohatu was nothing less! Pros: Gear function, Interchangable Mask, Great color scheme*, looks great with his protector, comes with a skull spider, has great weapons, is good for fans old and new, and TRANSLUCENT BONE PIECES!! Cons: Color scheme may not be appealing to some, Mask pops off a little easily, and has the least pieces out of the $15 (USD) sets. Overall, I'd say Pohatu Master of Stone is a great Bionicle to buy. I would recommend also buying his protector as well. They make a great looking team!

Spent hours playing with him!

By MOCsAndLEGOs

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Pohatu Master of Stone (70785):

After I put this set together, I could not take him apart. He is so fun to play with! The arm-turning gear function works great, he comes with two boomerangs that you can switch out for the dagger stored on his back. Also, his mask-pop-off function works properly, unlike some of the other sets. The boomerangs can be put on Pohatu's feet so he can "run faster" and it's pretty believable. His dagger is easily accessible for play as it's on a Technic pin on the back, easy to take off and put back on. His gear function is really easy to turn, but it stays put when you leave it, another great function. Here are some PROs -The mask-pop-off function works great -The gear system is flawless -His boomerangs are poseable -Unlimited options of play -Conflict-in-a-box with the Skull Spider also included in the set Here are some CONs -He is the smallest set of all the Toa/heroes -His head can sometimes be hard to turn without the mask coming off Overall, this is one of the best sets I purchased from the Bionicle 2015 line, he is just so much fun.
