This set is a joy.

I picked it up the day it came out, went straight home, opened the box, and—three and a half hours later—sat and marveled at its intricate detail and functions for hours. Exactly two weeks later, I'm still in love with it.

The price is relatively fair at slightly over the 10 cents per piece standard. But, despite the piece count, the completed model doesn't really look like its price tag. It's more of a $70-ish looking set, which is what it SHOULD have been priced at, but I'm not complaining too much on that front, especially when the TIE-Fighter is already taking enough flak on that front.

The build is straightforward and at no point was I confused. The way the nose comes together is like if magic and shear genius had a baby. It's amazing. There's almost no repetition, except for the wings. I found myself getting a little worn out by the final bag, but overall, I think the instructions were paced well.

There's one noticeable issue, however: The engines on the back don't fit correctly into their slots. They can fall off unless you put them in as best as possible. It's not a deal breaker, but it's annoying and could have been handled better. You'd expect more from a set at this price.

The landing gear is good, but somewhat delicate. You have to be careful not to apply to much pressure when the X-wing is landed, or else the landing gear will collapse under its weight. I can't complain too much; there's really no alternative design.

The profile is also not quite accurate to the new TFA X-wings. The canopy sits up too high, and the nose is too flat. This looks similar to a classic X-wing, whilst the new ones are streamlined. The wings also don't fold accurately, and I'm sure they could with a better design. Still, they open and close by twisting a gear on the top, and that's awesome.

All these faults are lessened by the fact that the set is GORGEOUS. It's stunning, sturdy, playable, and just plain amazing.

I recommend it, unless you have some kind of crazy OCD or something. xD It's not as accurate as it could be, but it's stunning in and of itself.

Let me start by saying that I am a Huge lego fan and I have been building legos as long as I can remember. I also have great respect for Lego as a company, their customer service and the products that they put out. Like many of the Lego fans my entire house is decorated with lego sets all around. My bedside table has the UCS R2D2, my living room as the two UCS X-wings and almost the entire Creator expert series of modular's in my Dining room. Every lego set I have bought so far has been excellent and the build and design shows the love and care the designers have put in to their product. Even some of the lego sets that didn't do well in terms of sales I felt were excellent. Sadly this one is a completely different story and all through my build of this X-wing I felt that this cannot have been designed by a Lego designer who cared at all. This set is currently the hottest set in the lego store and had been out of stock for a very long time. I finally got my hands to it yesterday and I was excited to build it. I know a lot of people love this set and may disagree with my upcoming review completely, but I request you to please bare with me and give me a chance to explain myself 1. The design of the wings of Poe Dameron's X-wing is completely wrong. It was one of the easiest fixes which could have been done by Lego pre production. This has also been mentioned in good detail by an esteemed reviewer and he also has pictures showing how he fixed it. 2. The boosters at the back could have been fixed to the wings in a much better way. They just dont fit very well and I am surprised why they fit them the way they did. Again they could have done a much better job with this using very basic elements. 3. The design on the fuselage is like the classic X-wing however the new X-wing is much sleeker. I feel this was done because the designers just didnt have enough time to design it right. It just looks like a copy and paste job from the previous X-wings. 4. The spring loaded shooters are completely useless... I understand that they were put there for kids to play with, but trust me when I say this shooting the missile with the wings open is a chore. I know this because when my neighbors son (who is 10 years old) played with it he hated it. It was hard to reach over to the tip of the wing and shoot. (According to him it was much better in his Jedi interceptor). 5. The worst of all are the blue rubber bands which are mounted outside the X-wing to open and close the wings. Lego has so many design elements which they could have put together to open/close the wings. I suspect these blue rubber bands were put in to lower the price by saving on a few components. In my opinion they could have completely done away with the absolutely useless 'Yellow Loader' and given us a better open/close mechanism for this iconic fighter. This was a complete deal breaker for me as it took away from the aesthetics of the design (Please note that lego does not have a single pic of the X-wing from behind) and also one of the main reasons I wrote this review. 6. Lastly the price of this set is not justified at all. Again as this set is selling like hot cakes lego will probably think that its ok to charge people more for badly designed sets. In the end it felt to me like this set was made with the single most thought of designing a set as cheaply and quickly as possible; missing any passion or soul that goes into a Lego design. This set has Disney written all over it and I really hope that we do not loose the heart that Lego designers bring in the starwars series going forward. Any lego fan will agree to some, if not all points I have made here. I feel that I am the only one who is as disappointed as I am, but this review is written with all honesty for people to make an informed decision. I hope that the lego designers do read these reviews and take any of my comments constructively. As for other readers, I personally would not recommend this set to anyone, however if you are a fan of the movie and your kids love anything starwars then do go for it.

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Poe's X-Wing Fighter FTR 75102:

This set was not as good as the original x wing set but was still a fun set to make and play with. I would say that the thruster on the back could of been better designed for they fall off and break quite a lot. I would recommend the falcon even though it costs more it is a much better set in value of money but it does give it a run for its money.

My 6 year old son loves it!!

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Poe's X-Wing Fighter FTR 75102:

I bought this for my son when he had to stay home from school with whooping cough. We popped some popcorn, watched the Star Wars trilogy (the good one), and he built this while we watched the movies. It's by far one of my favorite memories!! He absolutely loves Star Wars and loves Poe Dameron, so it kept him busy for hours. I was actually surprised as to how fast he built it, I thought it would take a couple of days. The quality is great (as usual with Lego), and the level of difficulty is about average for the recommended age, but my son is only 6 and was able to build it, no problem. He loved that the wings opened and shut, the retractable landing gear, and of course the fact that he could shoot lasers at his storm trooper minifigures. I personally loved the BB-8 mini figure. I'd say this is a "must have" for your Star Wars Lego collection.

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Poe's X-Wing Fighter FTR 75102:

X-Wings are the second coolest and most iconic spaceships in the Star Wars universe â€" after the Millennium Falcon, obviously. I personally wanted this set because both Poe Dameron and his X-Wing are really cool, and I was not disappointed. The finished ship looks great and I love the colour scheme â€" makes for a nice change from the usual 50 Shades of Grey! The minifigures that come with this set are fantastic! You get Poe Dameron, another Resistance X-Wing pilot, a Resistance ground crew member called Goss Toowers, and of course BB-8, Poe Dameron's loyal AstroMech droid. The minifigures all have great detailing and look fantastic. I especially love the new helmet visors. In addition to the ship itself and the minifigures, this set comes with a loader with seating, steering mechanisms and a box with extra ammunition, and a ladder to climb up to the cockpit. I am going to hang my X-Wing from the ceiling, but for display on a table or for play purposes, these accessories are great and really add to the set. I personally think the ship is accurate enough compared to the film, but I mainly just enjoy building LEGO and I'm not too fussed about the details. The rubber bands that control the wings are blue because that's the colour these Technic bands are at exactly this tension. I personally don't mind, and I wouldn't want to pay more for LEGO to manufacture bands at this tension in black just for this set. Pros: - The finished ship looks fantastic! - Great minifigures, both the selection you get and their individual detailing - The loader and ladder - Fun play features Cons: - The four engines on the back aren't secured 100% - I wish the landing gear was higher, so that the model could be displayed on a table with the S-foils locked in attack position and fully open I'd recommend this to all Star Wars Lego fans!

We had the best time putting this X-Wing fighter together with our 5-year-old. It was his choice for his birthday gift. We did most of the leg-work but it was a great opportunity to have him help with a larger build. The finished product is truly beautiful. My son loved the BB-8 figure that fits into the fighter. Would recommend this set.

I dont know where to begin to describe how cool this X-Wing Fighter really is, But I'll begin by admiring the colors of this piece, that eventhough is not a UCS, the black and orange stickers are such high quality, that to the naked eye you wouldnt notice if there were any stickers at all, the piece is also very sturdy and lightweight and easy to grab for play time, so its perfect for kids. I had alot of fun building it eventhough it was easy, very creative, so what more to add to my review? Well its simply PERFECT to my collection.
