A fun toy that appeals to girls' handy and creative sides

By Tonya

from Oregon

Comments about Educational Insights Design And Drill Flower Power Studio:

My daughter really likes this toy. The flower case opens up flat to create a drilling board and she loves drilling in the pieces and making pictures with the different screws and flat plastic pieces. Her older brother even gets out his toy drill and they drill little pictures together. It would be great if everything (the drill, screws, and flat plastic pieces) all fit inside the case for easy clean up. It *almost* does, but not quite, so I keep all of the screws in a gallon ziptop baggie. Other than that, this toy has been well loved for several months now! She started playing with this at 4yo and still enjoys it as a 5yo. I think that's a perfect age for this toy. I also think it's great that there are toy tools specially made to appeal to girls to encourage these types of activities long dominated by boy-centric toys. Girls can use tools, too :)

My 4 year old daughter loves this product. She enjoys choosing a design fromthe booklet and we take turns figuring out where to start, finding the right color bolts, and drilling. My in-laws were over recently and they were amazed that there is such a toy that is so safe. I love that there is a tool toy aimed at girls!

I have a 2.5 year old and 5 year old and this toy is perfect for both of them. My 2.5 year old boy loves the drill and its simple enough for him to figure out and use. My 5 year old girl enjoys the bright pretty colors and is challenged by creating patterns outlined in the book. I love that this toy has the ability for them to take turns playing together.

My 2.5 year old daughter has really enjoyed playing with this toy. The drill is the perfect size for her small hands. Although she is a little young to really start doing the designs, I think that she can definitely grow into this toy. This toy helps with hand eye coordination and is great for travel. Would definitely buy this for a child who is 3+.

Comments about Educational Insights Design And Drill Flower Power Studio:

As an Early Intervention specialist I received this product for my 2.5 year old daughter to review. She loves it! Only drawback to this toy is it requires batteries (and a tiny screwdriver) so make sure you include some if you give it as a gift. This toy is easy enough for my 2.5 yr old to use independently. It promotes fine motor development, and color sorting. It came with a booklet of designs to imitate, and while I don't think my daughter is old enough to try it, I like that it's actually a very open ended toy and she can use her imagination and create what she likes. Easy clean-up and storage too. Encourages problem solving, which I like. I think this is a great educational toy and will be getting a lot of use at our house. My 4 year old niece has also played with this toy and really liked it. I think it's more appropriate for her age group, but my younger daughter is able to play and explore as well. Would recommend this toy to anyone with a 3 1/2-6 1/2 year old!

I'd definitely buy this for my PreK 3 year old daughter again. It's a very durable game everything is hard plastic and won't break.
My daughter is learning how to build patterns using the bolts which are different colors! She really enjoyed it!,,

Drill is awesome because isn't loud , which she doesn't like loud noises but this is perfect for her.

Educational and fun! Great fot three- year-old twins

        Best Uses

Comments about Educational Insights Design And Drill Flower Power Studio:

We have had this toy for 2 weeks now- bought it for my 3 year old twins (boy/girl). We love that it incorporates a skill and manual dexterity (drilling in the pieces) with creativity (making flower designs). However, i think the kids (just barely 3) are too young for the designs part- so far they just like to drill in/out the pieces. But they will likely grow into the other uses, giving this toy a long life.
I wish it were in gender neutral colors, as my son and daughter like it equally (and i like the garden concept for boys!) I also wish that the latch closed a little tighter- the screws and plates keep falling out of the flower container when i clean it up.
Still, it keeps them occupied for a while and will have a long life ahead (as long as we keep replacing drill batteries!)

Comments about Educational Insights Design And Drill Flower Power Studio:

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has so much fun playing with this. I only had to show her one time how to use the drill & different colored bolts and she was off doing it all on her own. Right away she started designing her own scenes & it was a great hands on way to teach her about patterns.
It comes with a booklet to help guide you in teaching your child how to use the drill as well as sample pattern pictures that your child can copy. We sat down and she picked out the one she wanted to do (the princess image) & I showed her how to set aside the specific color bolts we would need & then how to count within the rows to figure out where the bolts should be drilled in. The drill, bolts, and design plates all fit inside the fold up flower board so it is super convenient to take on the go.

Our three year old daughter loves this toy!
For starters it is bright and colorful, sturdy and compact. When not in use all the pieces store inside and the flower folds into a carrying case.
As a preschool teacher I see the amazing potential for hand eye coordination development and fine motor practice. My three year old was able to play with this by herself right off the bat.
Another bonus; the drill isn't very loud. I know some kids get distracted or scared by loud noises.

My 4 year old daughter loves this toy. She was so excited to open it up and get started playing with it. She loves making her own designs with the bolts and plates and thinks the drill is awesome. She likes using the flower drill bit the best. It held her attention so well and she played independently with it for 45 minutes straight. It was easy for her to figure out on her own. The only improvement I would suggest is adding some sort of screwdriver handle that the drill bits would also fit into, so that the child can turn some manually, to try something different or if the drill runs out of batteries.
